Role Description
QA / Test Engineer is responsible for defining test scenarios, execute functional and regression tests, and collaborate closely with business analysts, requirements engineers and developers to ensure our software meets all business requirements and meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and security. Prior experience in Lending & Credit Risk projects preferred.
Responsibilities
Test Design & Execution
- Define Scope & Estimates: Analyse user stories and technical specifications to estimate testing efforts and define the scope of regression, integration, and system testing. Also, identify and document detailed, reusable test cases. Immediate testing scope (among others) includes QA of German loan contracts (e.g. PDF/word docs) and validating the system generated contract correctness vs the given business requirements. Also, additional test requirements for in-house built Lending & Credit Risk tool for Private Individuals expected to be covered.
- Environment & Test Data Management: Identify and coordinate the setup of test environments and manage the preparation of test data required for execution as needed.
- Execute Tests: Perform functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing to validate software releases.
- API Testing: Validate backend services and API integrations to ensure seamless data flow and system behaviour.
Test Automation & CI/CD (nice to have)
- Write Automation Scripts: Develop (if possible), maintain, and execute automated test scripts within our existing automation frameworks with focus on regression testing on documents (content/formatting).
- Integrate with Pipelines: Run and monitor automated test suites as part of the daily build and CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous quality.
Defect Tracking & Collaboration
- Identify & Report Bugs: Document, prioritize, and track software defects in Jira, providing clear steps to reproduce and supporting logs/data for developers.
- Collaborate Daily: Work side-by-side with Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers in daily stand-ups to ensure issues are resolved quickly.
Experience & Background
- QA Experience: 3-5 years of experience in software testing and quality assurance. Experience in testing the content and formatting of system generated documents (e.g. PDF/word) beneficial.
- Agile Mindset: Experienced working in Agile/Scrum development teams and understand how testing fits into 2-week sprint cycles.
- Experience in coordinating UAT (User Acceptance Testing) activities.
- Experience working in large-scale, complex multi-region / global corporate IT environments. Ability to work with teams globally across different time zones and from different cultural backgrounds.
Technical Skills & Tools
- Testing Tools: Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr, Xray, ALM).
- Automation exposure (nice to have): Experience in running and maintaining test automation scripts using frameworks like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Cucumber beneficial.
- API & Database Testing: Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and solid SQL skills to query databases for backend data validation.
- Language/Scripting (nice to have): Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Java, Python, or JavaScript) to read and modify automation code.
