DUDE CHEM is seeking an experienced Python developer to own the Rulemapping Application Platform. You will work on a mature codebase, integrating AI capabilities and ensuring robust, well-tested Python services.

You will collaborate with the DevOps role and contribute to design decisions, with a focus on clean interfaces, performance, and reliability in production environments.

Your mission

The Rulemapping Application Platform has been running in production for over 20 years, supporting complex legal and regulatory processes. You own the Python applications of this platform and bring modern AI functionality into a system that public authorities and companies rely on every day. It is work on a mature codebase that demands careful engineering and offers real room to make it measurably better.

• You evolve the platform's Python applications and keep code quality high, with thoughtful architecture, meaningful refactoring, clean interfaces, and solid test coverage.
• Technical debt is something you tackle constructively and resolve in a live production environment.
• You integrate AI functionality such as LLM APIs, embeddings, and pipelines sustainably into existing applications and use modern AI coding tools in your daily development work.
• You contribute actively to technical decisions, code reviews, and feature design, watch performance, correctness, and reliability, and act before problems arise.
• You work closely with the DevOps role. Infrastructure and deployment live there; you deliver cleanly deployable code.

Your profile

• Several years of experience with Python in production. You know the difference between good code and code that was merely written fast.
• A reliable instinct for readable, maintainable code, with sensible abstractions, solid tests, and clean typing.
• Familiarity with the modern Python ecosystem. FastAPI, async, packaging, and common tooling are part of your daily work.
• You work autonomously, make decisions, and can explain your reasoning. You don't need close supervision to deliver strong results.
• Experience with LLM APIs or ML models in production applications is a clear plus. If you don't have it yet, a genuine willingness to get up to speed is what counts.
