Quantum Systems in Germany is seeking a Senior Prototyping Engineer for Hybrid Power & Fuel System Integration to join our Prototyping team. You will own the integration, development, and validation of the aircraft's hybrid propulsion, fuel, and power interfaces for the Reliant platform, a long-range eVTOL designed for ISR and logistics missions.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience integrating and testing combustion engines, hybrid propulsion systems, gensets, fuel systems, or power generation systems.
• Hands-on experience setting up, integrating, commissioning, and testing internal combustion engines and associated fuel systems.

As a Senior Prototyping Engineer - Hybrid Power & Fuel System Integration, you will become an integral part of our Prototyping team, supporting the development of our Reliant platform - a next-generation long-range eVTOL unmanned aerial system designed for demanding ISR and logistics missions. Reliant combines exceptional endurance, modularity, and operational flexibility to deliver mission-critical capabilities in the most challenging environments.

In this role, you will take ownership of the integration, development, and validation of the aircraft's hybrid power generation system, including the internal combustion engine, fuel storage and delivery system, generator, and associated electrical and control interfaces. You will ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of the complete propulsion system throughout the prototype development cycle by working closely with mechanical, electrical, propulsion, avionics, and systems engineering teams.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• Lead the integration of the hybrid propulsion system, including the combustion engine, fuel system, generator, and power electronics into prototype aircraft.

• Develop and validate fuel storage, distribution, and delivery systems, including tanks, pumps, filters, valves, sensors, and plumbing.

• Design, build, and commission test rigs and dedicated test stands.

• Develop and execute functional, endurance, and performance test campaigns for fuel and hybrid power systems.

• Set up, integrate, commission, and troubleshoot combustion engines, generators, fuel systems, and associated control systems.

• Analyze system performance, efficiency, reliability, and failure modes, implementing design improvements based on test results.

• Collaborate closely with propulsion, mechanical, electrical, controls, and systems engineering teams to optimize system integration and aircraft performance.

• Prepare technical documentation, verification reports, test procedures, and engineering recommendations to support prototype development.

What you bring to the team:

• Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience integrating and testing combustion engines, hybrid propulsion systems, gensets, fuel systems, or power generation systems.

• Hands-on experience setting up, integrating, commissioning, and testing internal combustion engines and associated fuel systems.

• Strong understanding of fuel systems, fluid dynamics, pressure systems, combustion engines, generators, electrical power systems, and hybrid propulsion architectures.

• Experience designing, building, and operating engineering test setups, test stands, and validation rigs.

• Experience with instrumentation, sensors, CAN communication, embedded systems, avionics integration, and data acquisition.

• Programming experience using Python, MATLAB, C++, LabVIEW, or similar for test automation and data analysis is an advantage.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross‑functional collaboration skills with a hands‑on approach to prototype development.

• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
