You will work on Veeam backup environments, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight uplift initiatives, and automation, contributing to scalable solutions and robust incident handling.

About the Role

We are seeking a senior, hands‑on Project Engineer to support both managed backup operations and technical project delivery across backup, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, and compliance environments. This hybrid role is suited to an experienced MSP engineer who can take ownership of technical work, manage complex escalations, and deliver projects with a careful, safety‑first approach.

You will work across Veeam backup environments, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight uplift initiatives, infrastructure, endpoint, and disaster recovery projects. You will also contribute to automation and process improvement, using scripting and technical insight to resolve recurring issues and create scalable solutions.

You will be working with a specialist technology provider focused on managed backup services for MSPs, helping them maintain reliable, recoverable, and well‑managed client environments. The organisation combines technical expertise with a strong focus on backup reliability, monitoring, restore testing, and emergency recovery.

Ideal Profile

Experience & Technical Expertise

• Senior‑level experience within an MSP, IT service provider, backup, infrastructure, or project engineering environment
• Strong Veeam experience, with the ability to confidently support and discuss backup solutions with technical stakeholders
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience across security, compliance, identity, and client environment uplift
• Experience with Essential Eight uplift projects or similar cybersecurity and compliance frameworks
• Strong understanding of hypervisors, infrastructure, endpoints, backup, and disaster recovery
• Proven ability to independently own technical work and manage priorities within a small technical team
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a disciplined approach to risk, rollback planning, and client impact

• Exposure to JavaScript or .NET
• Experience supporting ISO readiness or compliance documentation
• Police clearance or willingness to complete background checks where required

Responsibilities

Backup, Recovery & Managed Services

• Support managed Veeam backup services across MSP client environments
• Monitor, investigate, and resolve backup and restore issues
• Support restore verification, backup reliability, issue remediation, and emergency recovery activities
• Communicate confidently with MSP engineers and technical stakeholders
• Maintain accurate technical records, escalation notes, and client‑facing information

Project Engineering & Consultancy

• Deliver technical projects covering Microsoft 365, infrastructure, compliance, and client environment improvements
• Support Essential Eight maturity uplift initiatives and apply practical cybersecurity and compliance knowledge
• Plan and implement technical changes with appropriate consideration of scope, risk, rollback options, and client impact
• Work independently while escalating appropriately when additional technical input is required
• Contribute to project planning, implementation documentation, and post‑project handovers

Microsoft 365, Infrastructure & Endpoint Support

• Support Microsoft 365 environments across identity, security, compliance, and administration
• Troubleshoot complex Microsoft 365, endpoint, infrastructure, backup, and hypervisor issues
• Manage both complex escalations and day‑to‑day technical support requirements
• Support Windows and macOS environments, including endpoint administration and troubleshooting
• Assist with client onboarding, environment reviews, and technical recommendations

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring technical issues and develop scalable solutions
• Use PowerShell and, where relevant, Bash to automate detection, remediation, reporting, and repeatable processes
• Identify opportunities to permanently resolve recurring problems across client environments
• Contribute to process improvement, backend automation, and operational efficiency initiatives
• Collaborate with the wider technical team to turn technical logic into repeatable workflows and automation

Client, MSP & Pre‑Sales Support

• Engage professionally with MSP clients, technical contacts, and internal stakeholders
• Provide clear technical explanations and progress updates during projects, support activities, and escalations
• Contribute to technical pre‑sales discussions and explain proposed solutions clearly
• Represent the organisation professionally during client meetings and technical discussions
• Maintain high standards across tickets, documentation, and technical communication
