Jobbeschreibung

At RobCo, we radically rethink how products are made. Manufacturing today is still largely defined by manual, repetitive work. We are here to change that.
Our modular, software defined robotic solutions bring automation to industrial companies, from mid sized champions to global enterprises. By making adaptable automation accessible, we are driving efficiency, resilience and long term competitiveness where it matters most.
We are building Physical AI for the real world. Technology that transforms entire industries through autonomy, modularity and deep software integration. But it is the people who make all of this possible. We are looking for curious minds, driven builders and bold thinkers who want to challenge how things have always been done.

If that's you, join us and help us;

“Automate the ordinary,
so humans can do the extraordinary.”

RobCo was born from curiosity, ingenuity, and a simple but bold idea: robotics should be accessible to every industrial company. In 2020, Roman Hölzl, Paul Marantz and Constantin Dresel came together at the Chair of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) with a shared vision. They wanted to rethink how automation is built and deployed on the factory floor.
Frustrated by the rigidity, complexity and high costs of traditional robotic systems, they set out to create something fundamentally different. Autonomous industrial robotics centered on software and AI that makes automation adaptive, scalable and easy to implement without specialist expertise. From this idea, RobCo emerged as a company focused on helping manufacturers increase productivity, tackle labor shortages and bring Physical AI into real industrial environments.
Today, we build our technology in Germany and the United States, with engineering teams in Munich, San Francisco and Austin. Our systems are deployed across Europe and the US. They combine modular hardware, no-code automation tools and AI-powered capabilities to deliver robotics that just works—robust, flexible and scalable for real production environments.
Our mission is to build Physical AI for real factories, turning rigid industrial processes into systems that learn, adapt and scale. At RobCo, you are not just joining a company. You are joining a movement to automate the ordinary, so humans can do the extraordinary.

Play to win

We don’t settle for mediocrity. We dominate the category. We win the western world. We go routes nobody else goes. We set goals, overcome challenges and never give up. We work hard and play hard, experiment forward.

Listen and speak up

We collaborate to win. We show up with curiosity. We listen first, speak second. We amplify each other. We embrace diversity whilst unifying in commitment. We turn our differences into an advantage.

Prioritize harder

We make tough, uncomfortable calls. We focus and therewith win speed and impact. We experiment and cut down to what is working and scaling. We simplify to scale.

Serve the customer and the company

We sell the right products to the right customers. We take ownership for our customers and the company in our deliverables / commitments. We deliver true value. We empower customers, not just serve their needs.

Get it live

Focus on the outcome. Ship impact. Take care of handovers. We think and act end-to-end. We cover the full value chain. ‘Leaders-ship’ to role model.

About the Role at RobCo

RobCo is building the category of Autonomous Industrial Robotics and we're doing it fast. We believe that automating the ordinary frees humans to do the extraordinary, and we're building the end-to-end robotics infrastructure to make that possible - hardware, software, and AI in one stack that just works.

As our Senior Mechanical Engineer - Robotics (m/f/d), you act as a mechanical engineering powerhouse and technical pillar within our hardware team. You lead end-to-end physical design, drive robust engineering standards, and shape dynamic processes tailored for a fast-paced scale-up environment. As a pragmatic all-rounder and role model, you translate high-level mechanical concepts into field-ready robotic systems that redefine industrial automation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design cycles, taking complex mechanical systems from initial sketching, calculations, and conceptualization through to CAD modeling, prototyping, and full production delivery.
  • Establish and refine engineering standards and scalable mechanical design processes suitable for a fast-growing scale-up, ensuring high quality and rapid iteration cycles.
  • Act as a technical role model and mentor for junior and peer engineers in adopting modern mechanical standards, design methodologies, and robust documentation practices.
  • Design high-precision mechanisms, seamlessly integrating motion systems, actuators, and electrical/mechatronic components into modular hardware architectures.
  • Drive DFM/DFT best practices, collaborating directly with contract manufacturers and internal assembly teams to optimize BOM costs, sourcing strategies, and engineering change control (ECO).
  • Execute detailed structural calculations, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) to guarantee reliable field performance.
  • Run projects end to end, planning them out, budgeting, and keeping timelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electronics, software, and physical AI engineering teams to validate physical hardware against real-world operational constraints.
  • Proactively identify operational bottlenecks and establish dynamic hardware development processes on the fly to accelerate our time-to-market.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Completed vocational training or a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or comparable experience.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in full-cycle product development and mechanical engineering across multiple companies (not exclusively early-stage startups).
  • Deep proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, alongside advanced skills in technical drawing creation and engineering calculations.
  • Proven experience designing around motion control systems, actuators, sensors, and electrical/mechatronic hardware integration.
  • Hands-on DFM/DFT expertise and a track record of working directly with contract manufacturers, managing BOM costs, component sourcing, and change control processes.
  • Culture-aligned mindset: Proactive, high ownership mentality, pragmatic working style, and the desire to serve as a supportive role model to the broader engineering team.
  • Very good English skills (German is a plus).
  • Nice to have: Direct experience in robotics, industrial automation, or kinematic arm design.

Why join RobCo?

Develop modular, software-defined robotics solutions with us that set new standards in automation.

Help us build robots equipped with state-of-the-art AI that perceive their environment, analyze data, and make intelligent decisions in real time.

As part of a very dynamic and fast-growing scale-up, you will take on responsibility from day one, drive your own projects, and see the direct impact of your work.

Flat hierarchies, open communication, and regular 360° feedback enable fast decisions and support your professional and personal development.

Wellpass membership (7,200+ studios across Germany), regular team events, and a team that takes both the work and the culture seriously.

Flexible working hours, a modern office, and—depending on the role—the option to work from home.

Regular team events—from relaxed beer & pizza nights on the rooftop terrace to shared experiences on ski trips or at Oktoberfest.
