Zusammenfassung

Axon seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Kassel office on a hybrid schedule. You will own mechanical system development across the product lifecycle, from concept to production, and lead the integration with electrical, RF, and systems teams.

Bring hands-on engineering and strong problem-solving skills to design durable solutions for cUAS hardware, with emphasis on thermal performance, weight, and environmental robustness. Mentorship and collaboration are key aspects of the role.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Several years of experience in mechanical design and system integration for complex hardware products.
• Strong background in mechanical design for harsh or regulated environments.
• Experience with structural and thermal simulation tools (SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys).
• Proficiency with CAD tools and production-ready technical drawings.
• Hands-on skills and comfort with workshop tools and prototypes.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for production.
• Proven problem-solving mindset and ability to debug real hardware issues.
• Experience sharing knowledge, reviews, or mentoring within an engineering team.
• Clear communicator with ownership, collaboration and technical depth.

• Design durable mechanical solutions for fixed, portable, and mobile cUAS systems.
• Develop housings, structures, and mounting concepts focusing on thermal performance, weight, stiffness, and environmental robustness.
• Apply structural and thermal simulation to guide design decisions and validate concepts.
• Take a hands-on role in prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements.
• Solve real-world hardware problems by identifying root causes and implementing robust solutions.
• Work closely with electrical, RF, and systems engineers on mechanical-electrical integration.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners on DFM/DFMA, materials, surface treatments, and production processes.
• Support qualification activities including temperature, shock, vibration, and environmental testing.
• Participate in design reviews, contribute to engineering guidelines, and improve mechanical design standards.
• Act as a technical mentor within the engineering team.

Your Impact

As aSenior Mechanical Engineer, you take technical ownership of mechanical systems and assemblies - from early concept and architecture through prototyping, qualification, and production. You combine hands-on mechanical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and technical leadership, actively shaping both our products and the way we engineer them.

What You’ll Do

• Own mechanical system and subsystem development across the full product lifecycle.
• Design durable mechanical solutions for fixed, portable, and mobile cUAS systems.
• Develop housings, structures, and mounting concepts with focus on thermal performance, weight, stiffness, and environmental robustness.
• Apply structural and thermal simulation (e.g. FEA, thermal analysis) to guide design decisions and validate concepts.
• Take a strong hands-on role in prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements.
• Solve real-world hardware problems by identifying root causes and implementing practical, robust solutions.
• Work closely with electrical, RF, and systems engineers on mechanical-electrical integration.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners on DFM/DFA, material selection, surface treatments, and production processes.
• Support qualification activities including temperature, shock, vibration, and environmental testing.
• Participate in design reviews, contribute to engineering guidelines, and continuously improve mechanical design standards.
• Act as a technical mentor, sharing knowledge and experience within the engineering team.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
