eleQtron, a leader in cryogenic quantum computing, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Cryogenics & Vacuum to join our international team. You will design and integrate mechanical systems for trapped-ion quantum computers, focusing on thermal management, CAD modeling, and supplier collaboration.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in mechanical engineering, 8+ years in R&D, and fluency in English with German as a bonus.

• Business fluent in English, knowledge of German is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Carry out the development and design of highly innovative mechanical components, and their integration into the overall quantum computer design system in cooperation with systems experts.
• Take responsibility for the detailed design of thermal pathways and interfaces, and tracking thermal budgets for quantum computers.
• Create 3D CAD models and drawings for manufacturing, define the product’s mechanical design, and manage CAD data, parts lists, and the BOM
• Define manufacturing specifications, support procurement in supplier validation, and collaborate with suppliers on methods, materials, and requirements
• Assist with quick proof of concepts and feasibility discussions
• Test mechanical prototypes and check them against specifications
• Facilitate proactive communication and close coordination with customers and suppliers in collaboration with procurement
• Continuously optimize processes within the existing work environment

eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (f/m/d) to join us.

Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Engineer - Cryogenics & Vacuum (f/m/d), you will be part of a team with a mission to develop, set up and operate our trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices. You will collaborate closely with our international team of physicists and engineers from different disciplines. Depending on your level of experience, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:

• Carry out the development and design of highly innovative mechanical components, and their integration into the overall quantum computer design system in cooperation with systems experts

• Take responsibility for the detailed design of thermal pathways and interfaces, and tracking thermal budgets for quantum computers

• Create 3D CAD models and drawings for manufacturing, define the product’s mechanical design, and manage CAD data, parts lists, and the Bill of Materials (BOM)

Requirements

Required skills:

• BSc. or MSc degree in mechanical engineering or comparable

• 8+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment

• Proficiency in SolidWorks

• Experience in the design and development of bespoke machinery or systems

• Experience in manufacturing processes and treatments of broad range of materials beside steel and aluminum

• Experience with systematic product development processes

• Well organized and structured way of working

• Being adaptable while practicing critical thinking

• Business fluent in English, knowledge of German is a plus
