This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Actuarial Strategic Operations based in the United States.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity at the intersection of actuarial analysis, healthcare finance, operations, and AI-enabled decision-making.

You’ll lead a high-impact team supporting the performance and strategic priorities of a Medicare Advantage business.

The role serves as a central hub for enterprise performance monitoring, initiative governance, financial integration, and executive decision support.

You’ll partner with senior leaders across Finance, Actuarial, Clinical, Revenue, Pharmacy, Product, and Operations to influence priorities and resource allocation.

A major focus will be building scalable reporting, automation, and AI-enabled analytical workflows that improve speed, rigor, and decision quality.

You’ll also shape the team's operating model, develop talent, establish quality standards, and create greater accountability across complex initiatives.

This role is ideal for an actuarial leader who combines strong healthcare expertise with strategic thinking, technical fluency, and a passion for building high-performing teams.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the operating model for the Medicare Advantage Actuarial Strategic Operations function, including governance, initiative portfolio management, prioritization, valuation, execution tracking, executive reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate enterprise priorities into clear team objectives, allocate resources based on business impact and capacity, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality analytical and decision-support work.
  • Own enterprise performance monitoring by developing and evolving frameworks using leading and lagging indicators, dashboards, KPIs, and consistent reporting cadences.
  • Establish analytical and quality standards across functional areas and use performance trends to identify risks, prioritize initiatives, and guide leadership decisions.
  • Lead the integration of operational, actuarial, and financial insights into clear recommendations for executive leadership, challenging assumptions and surfacing material risks and opportunities.
  • Champion responsible AI-enabled analytical methods that improve speed, scalability, reporting, workflow automation, and decision quality while maintaining data integrity and appropriate governance.
  • Serve as a senior cross-functional partner to leaders across Finance, Actuarial, Medical Economics, Clinical Operations, Revenue, Pharmacy, Product, and Analytics.
  • Establish ownership, decision rights, and accountability across initiatives while resolving competing priorities and aligning work with budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and enterprise performance objectives.
  • Scale the Command Center capability through automation, standardized processes, improved data quality, and sustainable AI-enabled solutions.
  • Ensure new tools and workflows are properly adopted, governed, documented, and maintained across the team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop actuarial and financial operations professionals, setting priorities and performance expectations while providing feedback, development opportunities, and capacity planning.
  • Build a high-performing team culture centered on analytical excellence, ownership, constructive challenge, continuous improvement, and measurable business impact.
Requirements
  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
  • 7--10 years of progressive experience in actuarial, healthcare finance, population health, analytics, consulting, strategy, or operations, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and organizational change.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare Advantage economics, including medical cost trends, utilization management, risk adjustment, provider reimbursement, pharmacy spend, and/or value-based care.
  • Experience in managed care or healthcare actuarial functions is preferred.
  • Advanced SQL and Excel skills, with experience using Python or R, business intelligence platforms, and modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or comparable technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI and automation to analytical workflows, operational efficiency, reporting, or business decision-making.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex actuarial and financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Proven experience leading and developing senior analysts, actuaries, or finance professionals, including delegation, workload allocation, coaching, performance management, and capability building.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex and ambiguous environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, build trusted cross-functional partnerships, navigate competing priorities, and drive sustained results within a highly matrixed organization.
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive leadership style with a strong interest in developing scalable operating models and modern ways of working.
