Qualifikationen

• Several years of software engineering experience in startup-like environments.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and React.
• Experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-based workflows.
• Fluency in German and English.
• Ability to work with customers to map workflows.

• Build end-to-end solutions using TypeScript, React, AWS and AI tooling.
• Own the problem from discovery to production: clarify, design, implement, ship, monitor, improve.

• Operate in ambiguous environments with no perfect spec or step-by-step plan.
• Collaborate with Engineering to ensure reliability, security, observability and maintainability.

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to help us solve complex workflow problems directly at the edge of our business: where product, engineering, commercial teams and customers meet.

What to expect in the role as Forward Deployed Software Engineer:

This isn't classic product engineering, nor pure implementation. You'll work alongside our Commercial teams and customers to find operational bottlenecks, then build pragmatic, high-quality software end to end: AI-powered workflows, internal tools, customer-specific automations, data migrations, dashboards and integrations that strip manual work out of onboarding and customer success.

Your role competency will sit in Engineering: we care deeply about technical quality, maintainability, security and ownership. Your business accountability will sit close to Commercial: your success will be measured by how much you unblock customers, reduce manual work and help Nelly scale faster.

Joining us, you will:

• Work closely with Commercial, Product and Engineering to identify high-impact customer and workflow problems
• Build end-to-end solutions using TypeScript, React, AWS and modern AI/LLM tooling
• Own the problem from discovery to production: clarify the problem, design the solution, implement it, ship it, monitor it and improve it
• Be close to the customers: join customer conversations to understand workflows, validate assumptions, and translate real-world complexity into technical solutions
• Operate in ambiguous environments where there is no perfect spec, no perfectly prepared ticket and no one handing you a step-by-step plan
• Collaborate with Engineering to ensure your solutions meet our standards for reliability, security, observability and maintainability

What you'll bring:

• Several years as a software engineer, ideally from a startup or similarly fast, broad environment where you've worn many hats and owned things end to end - from understanding the user problem to shipping production-ready software
• Strong experience with TypeScript and React, and being comfortable working across the stack, including APIs and cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS)
• Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-based workflows and excitement about using them to solve practical business problems
• Strong curiosity about customer workflows and the ability to quickly understand operational complexity, even with ambiguity and incomplete information
• Pragmatism and strong product judgment: you know when to build something robust, when to automate, when to simplify, when not to over-engineer - and how to prioritise by business impact
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluency in German and English
