• Identify and evaluate adjacent business opportunities, changing clinical practices, unmet needs, reimbursement developments, future healthcare trends, and emerging digital technologies.
• Translate insights into actionable opportunity assessments, strategic recommendations, value propositions, and early-stage business cases.
• Build relationships with clinicians, researchers, hospitals, startups, and innovation ecosystems to access emerging needs and opportunities.
• Evaluate and mature emerging technologies and digital capabilities (AI, ML, computer vision, data analytics, automation, robotics, imaging, software-enabled medical devices) through fast prototypes and demos.
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions, innovation demonstrators, and feasibility assessments for strategic decisions.
• Collaborate across engineering, clinical, commercial, and innovation functions to assess customer value, market potential, and feasibility.
• Drive opportunities through Discovery processes and decision gates from insight to validated recommendations and readiness.

Working at the intersection of healthcare, technology innovation, business creation, and digital capabilities, you will help uncover and evaluate ideas that could become Ambu's next generation of products, services, and business platforms.

Collaborating with colleagues across engineering, clinical, commercial, and innovation functions, you will engage with clinicians, researchers, hospitals, startups, and innovation ecosystems to understand unmet needs, explore technology trends, and translate insights into opportunity assessments, business cases, prototypes, and strategic recommendations.

We believe the best ideas come from a mix of in-person collaboration and focused individual work. That's why this role is based in Augsburg and follows a hybrid working model, with three days per week in the office and two days working from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate adjacent business opportunities, changing clinical practices, unmet needs, reimbursement developments, future healthcare trends, and emerging digital technologies.
• Translate clinical, market, and technology insights into actionable opportunity assessments, strategic recommendations, value propositions, and early-stage business cases.
• Build relationships with clinicians, key opinion leaders, researchers, hospitals, startups, and innovation ecosystems to gain early access to emerging needs, technologies, and opportunities.
• Evaluate and mature emerging technologies and digital capabilities, including AI, machine learning, computer vision, healthcare data analytics, automation, robotics, imaging, and software-enabled medical devices, through fast prototypes and demos to make the idea tangible
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions, innovation demonstrators, and feasibility assessments to support strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate across engineering, clinical, commercial, and innovation functions to assess customer value, market potential, competitive landscape, technical feasibility, and strategic fit.
• Drive promising opportunities through Discovery processes and decision gates, from early insight to validated recommendations and development readiness.

Suggested candidate profile

• Have significant experience within medical devices, healthcare technology, software, digital health, or other innovation-driven industries, combined with practical experience working in product development, innovation, or business creation environments.
• Have demonstrated the ability to identify, evaluate, and mature new opportunities and to develop strategic recommendations, value propositions, business cases, or innovation initiatives.
• Combine strong technical understanding with commercial curiosity and an interest in how emerging technologies can create future business value.
• Are comfortable navigating complex organizations and collaborating with stakeholders across technical, clinical, commercial, and leadership functions.
• Communicate and influence effectively across diverse audiences and can explain complex concepts in a clear and compelling way.
• Bring a strong understanding of healthcare, innovation processes, and commercial considerations, supported by a master's degree or higher in engineering, medical technology, life sciences, healthcare technology, business, or a similar field.
• Ideally bring experience in one or more of the following areas: digital health, AI or machine learning, computer vision, healthcare data analytics, software-enabled medical devices, in innovation management, product management, workflow automation, robotics, or emerging imaging technologies.
