Scalable Capital is seeking a Senior Backend Kotlin / Java Software Engineer to join our Client Technology Tribe in Munich or Berlin. You will contribute to secure, scalable client-facing systems and collaborate with product and engineering colleagues across teams.

You will design, implement, and operate services in production using Kotlin/Java and modern cloud-native technologies, focusing on authentication, onboarding, consent, engagement, and support features.

Qualifikationen

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or comparable practical experience.
• Strong professional experience in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience with Spring, REST APIs, GraphQL, JWT, Docker, and Git.
• Experience building and operating microservices in production environments.
• Practical experience with AWS or another major cloud provider.
• Solid understanding of databases, including SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• A strong focus on writing well-architected, testable, maintainable, and documented code.
• Strong analytical thinking in both technical and product-related problem solving.
• Clear, open, and concise communication skills, with professional proficiency in English.

Our teams work on products and platforms that support authentication, onboarding, consent management, client engagement, client support enablement, and public web experiences. We also build and maintain systems that ensure secure and compliant processing of client data, while enabling efficient internal operations and high-quality client communication through platforms such as Salesforce.

As a (Senior) Kotlin / Java Software Engineer, you will contribute to scalable client-facing and business-critical systems, working closely with product and engineering colleagues across different teams in Client Technology. Depending on team fit and business priorities, your focus may vary across areas such as authentication, onboarding, consent flows, client engagement, client support tooling, and public website experiences.

In this role, you will:

Build and improve secure, reliable, and scalable systems that support the client journey end to end

Design, implement, and operate services in production using Kotlin/Java and modern cloud-native technologies

Contribute to authentication, onboarding, consent, engagement, and support-related solutions across Client Technology

Work with AWS-based infrastructure and modern DevOps practices to deliver and run services effectively

Write clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code with a strong focus on security and quality

Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to bring meaningful product improvements to production

Help drive engineering excellence through strong technical ownership, pragmatic problem-solving, and continuous improvement

We are looking for engineers who combine strong software engineering fundamentals with a product mindset and a genuine interest in building trusted client experiences.

You bring:

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or comparable practical experience

Strong professional experience in software engineering with Java and/or Kotlin

Hands-on experience with Spring, REST APIs, GraphQL, JWT, Docker, and Git

Experience building and operating microservices in production environments

Practical experience with AWS or another major cloud provider

Solid understanding of databases, including SQL and ideally NoSQL technologies

A strong focus on writing well-architected, testable, maintainable, and documented code

Strong analytical thinking in both technical and product-related problem solving

Clear, open, and concise communication skills, with professional proficiency in English

Nice to have:

Experience with authentication, security, consent management, onboarding, or other client trust-related domains

Experience with GDPR, KYC, or other regulated-process environments

Exposure to Salesforce, client support tooling, or client engagement platforms

DevOps experience and confidence working with cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines

Experience in fintech, banking, or other regulated digital product environments

This role can be based in Berlin or Munich and is open to both Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers, depending on experience and scope.
