N26 is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Grow & Engage domain, delivering scalable backend systems from conception to deployment. The role emphasizes a product-centric mindset and collaboration with Product Owner, Tech Lead, and Designers to translate user needs into robust services.

The position is hybrid, based in Berlin or Barcelona, with an expectation to spend at least 8 days per month in the office.

Qualifikationen

• Proficient in JVM language with Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (Kotlin a plus).
• Deep understanding of microservice architecture.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and non-relational databases.
• Strong exposure to modern cloud architecture, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot).

About The Opportunity

You will work in the Grow & Engage domain ---the heart of the N26 experience. From initial signup to premium memberships and daily engagement, you'll work in teams delivering innovative features that serve our customers.

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with product-centric mindset to join our mission-driven team. As a vital contributor throughout the entire feature lifecycle, you will partner closely with Product Owner, Tech Lead and Designers to translate user needs into the seamless, scalable backend systems that empower our users from day one.

This is a hybrid role based in Berlin or Barcelona. We value in-person collaboration and expect our employees to spend at least 8 days per month in the office.

In This Role, You Will

• Do discovery, design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment.
• Manage individual project priorities and deliverables whilst working in a team who enjoy knowledge sharing sessions.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in technology.
• Propose new product ideas, build tech tools or try out new architectural approaches during our Get Stuff Done Days (GSDD).

Background

What you need to be successful:

• Experience in developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (note: experience of Kotlin would be a plus).
• In-depth understanding of microservice architecture.
• Knowledge of both relational (preferably Postgres) and non-relational databases.
• Appreciation of working in a modern cloud architecture, preferably with AWS.
• You know your way around using AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development without sacrificing quality.
