Alvarez & Marsal is seeking a finance-focused professional to join its Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in Germany. You will support upper middle market and large cap PE clients with pre-deal diligence and portfolio performance improvements, working directly with shareholders and management to stabilize financial and operating results.

The role emphasizes cash flow improvement, profitability measures, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree from an accredited university is essential.
• Strong analytical skills are required.
• Ability to build complex integrated three statements financial models.
• Understanding impacts of transformation initiatives on P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Experience with cash / liquidity programs including 13 week forecasts.
• Financial analysis and delivery of SG&A and cost reduction programs.
• Ideally experience in accounting and related financial processes.
• Good understanding of PowerBI.
• Fluency in English and German is essential.

About The Role

A&M's Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice focuses on serving upper middle market and large cap private equity firms who have engaged A&M to diligence potential acquisition targets in pre-deal situations as well as help improve operating results at their portfolio companies. Our area of expertise is integrated pre-deal due diligence assistance and supporting performing companies to deliver a growth strategy as well as supporting under-performing assets with a need to reorganize or take costs out. Working directly with shareholders and company management, A&M helps stabilize financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvement measures.

How You Will Contribute

• Identifying and validating performance improvement initiatives; creating implementation plans and leading implementation of initiatives alongside company management
• Identify information gaps through client interviews, trend analysis and pattern recognition
• Investigate beyond the first logical answer and challenge preconceived beliefs with fact-based analytics
• Develop storyline messages using supporting facts and analyses, ensure data and branding standards flows accurately and consistently throughout the presentation
• Review and provide inputs to all work products, and ensure that all client deliverables are presented logically and accurately
• Managing work streams, including leading/mentoring junior A&M colleagues and client staff & owning key business processes to solve client’s problems
• Promote a team environment where diverse ideas and opinions are encouraged
• Working closely with A&M’s European partnership group across Private Equity Performance Improvement to develop client focused go to market propositions, solutions, pitches and proposals
• Set reasonable timelines/expectations and align such with client
• Managing diverse, complex and conflicting stakeholder groups
• Build strong, trusted, long term relationships with clients in Germany and across Europe through the delivery of value-added client engagements

• Experience with Cash / liquidity programs including cash forecasts (13 week cash flow forecasts)
• Financial analysis and delivery of SG&A and cost reduction programs
• Ideally experience in accounting and related financial processes
• Relevant experience in the industry in a finance department in the industry or service sector, ideally with first experience in a managing function such as head of finance / head of accounting
• Good understanding of PowerBI
• Fluency to a native level in both written and verbal English and German is essential
