Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a Security Design Engineer to craft comprehensive physical security solutions including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection. You will produce basis of design, specifications, drawings, and installation plans, coordinating with clients and consultants to meet objectives and budgets.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in low voltage security design within AEC, strong project management, and BIM coordination; experience with CSI standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive security solutions that integrate physical security, access control, video surveillance, intercom, mass notification, and intrusion detection measures to meet client standards or mitigate identified risks.
• Develop detailed security design documentation, including basis of design, system specifications, systems drawings, schematics, and installation plans, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for technical & physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for client projects.
• Understand Master Format CSI specifications and write new content as needed.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, security requirements, and budgetary constraints, providing expert guidance and recommendations.
• Collaborate with consultants within our client environment to develop design standards, evaluate costs, risk, and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.
• Facilitate effective project team and cross‑functional interactions (Technical, Operations, BD, Marketing, etc.) by working successfully as part of a team and business functions to achieve positive results.
• Participate in maintenance of the clients’ Basis of Design, prototype design, and specifications for physical security elements.
• Maintain communication and record keeping of project decisions and directives in both written and verbal formats.
• Maintain project repository of documentation in a consistent and comprehensive project delivery method.
• Support business growth through pursuit of new work by providing technical content to new business proposals and firm qualification packages.
• Attend industry events to expand brand awareness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in architecture, engineering, or equivalent education/experience preferred.
• No less than four (4) years of experience in designing & specifying low voltage technology solutions primarily with expertise in security electronics and applying them into typical AEC industry design packages.
• Strong technical proficiency in security technologies, including access control systems, video surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, and other electronic security countermeasures.
• Ability to deliver system designs using an engineering approach to produce a well‑coordinated set of construction documents within the project budget.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines within budget constraints.
• Ability to effectively understand client needs and develop appropriate solutions that meet operational intent and budget parameters.
• Follow processes, continually seek to make processes more efficient, enforce processes, and conduct root cause analyses that lead to the update or creation of processes.
• Experience using Bluebeam, Salesforce, Smartsheet and MS 365 as core software programs used in the role, knowledge preferable.
• Understanding of building information modelling (BIM) and knowledge of required infrastructure to coordinate with other disciplines alongside colleagues.
