Jobbeschreibung

Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You’ve come to the right place.

YOUR IMPACT

You will be at the core of our asset innovation and knowledge development, building and evolving the proprietary tools and market models that shape how our clients navigate the energy transition. You will make a real, tangible impact by helping them unlock the opportunities hydrogen creates, from decarbonization and energy security to industrial competitiveness and new value pools. You will own, develop, maintain, and evolve our proprietary market intelligence assets covering the entire hydrogen value chain. Your work will span in-depth analysis of key players and the current hydrogen project landscape, regulatory frameworks, forecasting of hydrogen and derivative cost, prices, and supply-and-demand dynamics. You will analyze value and profit pools, identify strategic opportunities, and enable data-driven recommendations for portfolio and investment decisions across the hydrogen and clean fuels ecosystem. A defining part your work is tech-enablement: you will use AI tools and coding to build, automate, and visualize proprietary tools that sharpen our insights and accelerate delivery. You will also help identify gaps in our product portfolio, develop MVPs, and evolve them into full products. Your work will center on asset development and innovation. While your initial focus will be on building and maintaining our assets, you will increasingly support clients directly over time – deploying our proprietary assets, customizing business insights, and establishing yourself as a hydrogen and clean fuels expert on a path toward a knowledge consulting role. You will join our growing and entrepreneurial McKinsey Hydrogen Insights team, focused on developing distinctive insights and intelligence tools. You'll work closely with our solution leadership and core team, and alongside hydrogen and clean fuels enthusiasts and experts from the broader Hydrogen Service Line and other solution teams in the sustainability space. Together with client service teams across geographies and industries, you will directly engage and counsel McKinsey's hydrogen and sustainability clients, including integrated energy players, technology OEMs, developers, and investors. You will be based in our Munich office in Germany as part of the international McKinsey Hydrogen Insights Solution. Munich and Boston are our main hubs, with colleagues based globally. You will have significant space for initiative-taking and personal growth. You’ll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to our firm, with exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues across the firm.

YOUR GROWTH

Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward. In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else. When you join us, you will have:

  • Continuous learning:Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. The real magic happens when you take the input from others to heart and embrace the fast-paced learning experience, owning your journey.
  • A voice that matters:From day one, we value your ideas and contributions. You’ll make a tangible impact by offering innovative ideas and practical solutions, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity. We not only encourage diverse perspectives, but they are critical in driving us toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Global community:With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm’s diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions for our clients. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • World-class benefits:On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package to enable holistic well-being for you and your family.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Master’s degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), business informatics, economics, or another quantitative or analytical field preferred
  • Up to 2 years of professional experience, including theses and internships
  • Academic background and/or first professional experience in hydrogen, clean fuels, or decarbonization is highly valued, alongside a strong interest in new climate technologies and a willingness to specialize in the area
  • Strong analytical background with quantitative skills; MS Excel and PowerPoint are a minimum requirement, and first coding experience is essential to develop and tech-enable our proprietary tools; data visualization skills (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) are a strong plus
  • Comfort using AI tools and automation to streamline analysis and accelerate the development of client-facing assets
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for new products that address gaps in the industry
  • Strong process management skills, autonomously coordinating multiple workstreams in parallel and with foresight
  • Adept at managing key stakeholders (internal and external) and confident working collaboratively in a fast-paced, oftentimes ambiguous environment with senior stakeholders
  • Business-fluent language skills in German and English, both verbal and written
