Zusammenfassung

The Fraunhofer Institute for Materials and Beam Technology IWS in Dresden seeks a dedicated researcher to join the Dry Coating Methodology Development Research Group. You will plan and manage projects in dry coating, develop coating systems, and conduct experiments in materials and process development.

Excellent knowledge of battery electrode manufacturing and solid-state to Li-ion devices, plus experience with hazardous materials, are expected.

Qualifikationen

  • Completed university degree in natural sciences or engineering related to materials science, chemistry or process engineering.
  • Excellent knowledge in battery electrode manufacturing; knowledge of solvent-free electrode manufacturing is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of properties of electrodes for solid-state, lithium-ion and other next-gen batteries.
  • Experience handling hazardous materials.
  • Experience in powder characterization and particle technology.
  • Several years of experience managing and coordinating research projects.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage projects and supervise staff.
  • Excellent command of German and English.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Hands-on approach and strong commitment to project management.
  • Independent, structured, reliable, solution-oriented work style; interdisciplinary and analytical thinking.

Material and laser with system

The Fraunhofer Institute for Materials and Beam Technology IWS in Dresden develops complex system solutions in laser and materials technology. We see ourselves as innovators who develop solutions involving laser applications, functionalized surfaces, and material and process innovations - ranging from easily integrable custom solutions to cost-effective solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, all the way to turnkey solutions suitable for industrial use.


We are seeking a dedicated employee to join our Particle Technology Department in the Dry Coating Methodology Development Research Group as soon as possible.

  • You will be responsible for the scientific planning, execution, and management of public and industry-related projects in the field of dry coating

  • You will be responsible for coating systems and their further development, as well as for complex projects, and will actively contribute to their successful implementation

  • You will independently conduct experiments in the field of materials and process development

  • Developing methodologies for characterizing mixtures and powders is also part of your responsibilities

  • Recording all relevant project data and documentation, monitoring and overseeing project progress, managing projects, and communicating with clients are also part of your scope of work


What You Contribute


  • A completed university degree in the natural sciences, engineering (with a focus on materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or process engineering), or comparable fields of study relevant to the job posting

  • Excellent knowledge in the field of battery electrode manufacturing; knowledge of solvent-free electrode manufacturing is a plus

  • Excellent knowledge of the properties of electrodes for solid-state batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and other next-generation batteries

  • Experience handling hazardous materials

  • Previous experience in powder characterization and particle technology

  • Several years of experience managing and coordinating research projects

  • Excellent communication skills to successfully manage projects and supervise technical staff and support personnel

  • Excellent command of German and English

  • Proficiency with MS Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel)

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
