Zusammenfassung

Universität Hamburg sucht eine/n Research Associate im Projekt „Modeling non-local interaction phenomena in real materials: electrons, lattice & topology“ mit 75 % der wöchentlichen Arbeitszeit. Die Stelle ist befristet bis 30.11.2029 im Rahmen eines WissZeitVG-Vertrags.

Sie arbeiten theoretisch und rechnerisch an der Wechselwirkung von Elektronenkorrelationen und Elektron-Phonon-Wechselwirkungen, kombinieren ab-initio-Ansätze mit modellbasierten Methoden und haben die Möglichkeit, promovieren

Qualifikationen

• Ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium in einem relevanten Fach.
• Master of Science in Physik oder verwandtem Bereich mit Erfahrung in der Festkörperphysik.
• Erfahrung in der Theorie stark korrelierter Systeme mittels z.B. Greenscher-Funktionsmethoden sowie Elektron-Phonon-Physik oder Elektron-Gitter-Dynamik ist wünschenswert.

Aufgaben

• Wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit im genannten Projekt; ggf. Promotion außerhalb der Arbeitsaufgaben.
• Theoretische und rechnerische Forschung zur Wechselwirkung elektronischer Korrelationen und Elektron-Phonon-Wechselwirkungen; Ab-initio-Ansätze mit modellbasierten Many-Body-Methoden.

Scope of workpart-time

Weekly hours75 % of standard work hours per week

Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.

Theoretical and computational research on the interplay of electronic correlations and electron-phonon interactions, with a focus on numerical simulations at the interface between theory and experiment. The project combines ab initio approaches with model-based many-body methods. The position offers the possibility to pursue a doctoral degree.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

Master of Science in Physics or related field, with experience in condensed matter physics and, ideally, theoretical solid-state physics.

Experience in the theory of strongly correlated systems using e.g. Green’s-function-based methods as well as electron-phonon physics or electron-lattice dynamics is desirable.
