Zusammenfassung

Vattenfall BA Markets in Hamburg seeks a Renewables Portfolio Manager to analyze portfolios, develop models, and drive value across wind and solar assets. You will build valuation tools and collaborate with traders, risk managers, and IT to support commercial decisions.

With a quantitative degree and 3+ years of experience, you will translate complex analyses into actionable recommendations, optimize portfolio performance, and advance analytics frameworks in a dynamic energy market.

Qualifikationen

  • Completed university degree in a quantitative field (e.g., maths, physics, engineering, economics, finance, data science).
  • At least 3 years of experience in portfolio analytics, quantitative analysis, energy trading, or risk management.
  • Strong understanding of European power markets and renewable energy business models.
  • Experience with modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis, and data-driven decision making.
  • Fluent English; German is advantageous.

Our Business Area (BA) Markets is looking for the right person to fill the position as Renewables Portfolio Manager for our office in Hamburg.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Analytics & Value Creation: Analyze renewable energy portfolios and identify key value drivers, optimization opportunities, and commercial risks across power, certificates, and flexibility products.
  • Quantitative Modeling: Develop, maintain, and enhance portfolio valuation models and analytical tools to support commercial decision-making, portfolio optimization, and pricing activities.
  • Capture Rate Analysis: Assess capture rate development and other key drivers impacting the performance of wind and solar portfolios.
  • Risk Assessment & Portfolio Steering: Evaluate portfolio performance and risk exposure under various market scenarios, supporting hedging decisions, portfolio strategies, and risk management activities.
  • Methodology Development: Drive the continuous improvement of valuation approaches, pricing methodologies, analytics frameworks, and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Commercial Decision Support: Provide quantitative insights and recommendations to portfolio managers, originators, and senior management to support deal evaluation, pricing decisions, and portfolio strategy development.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Develop and automate analytical reporting while ensuring the quality, consistency, and transparency of portfolio and market data.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with portfolio managers, analysts, traders, risk managers, originators, back-office, and IT teams to strengthen analytical capabilities and support scalable portfolio management processes.
Qualifications

Your profile: We’re looking for someone who combines strong analytical capabilities with a genuine interest in energy markets and renewable energy. You enjoy working with complex datasets, developing quantitative models, and translating analytical insights into commercial recommendations.

To Succeed In This Role, You Should Also Bring
  • A completed university degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in portfolio analytics, quantitative analysis, energy trading, risk management, forecasting, or a similar analytical role within the energy sector.
  • A solid understanding of European power markets, renewable energy business models, and the commercial drivers affecting wind and solar portfolios.
  • Experience in quantitative modeling, valuation methodologies, forecasting, scenario analysis, and data-driven decision making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex analyses into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience working with analytical and visualization tools such as Python, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • A structured and detail-oriented working style combined with a high degree of initiative and ownership.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across commercial, analytical, risk, and technical teams.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. German language skills are considered an advantage.
