Jobbeschreibung

In brief

Orca is looking for a talented Engineer who can help us build the future of boating. If you enjoy boating, have a quality-oriented mindset, and can build processes that increase the satisfaction of millions of boaters globally, consider reaching out.

What to expect

Orca is building a modern navigation system for sailors and cruisers. We are growing quickly, have an exciting journey ahead, and are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position will play a crucial role in the success of Orca.

As a Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to ensure that millions of recreational boaters are delighted when using Orca. You will do that by raising Orca’s execution to excellence.

The ideal candidate has the technical acumen to define quality processes that ensure operational excellence, communicate effectively with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, has excellent time management abilities, and is passionate about having an impact on users. This role directly supports Orca’s mission by ensuring our customers love Orca products. To succeed at Orca, you must be energetic, highly organized, and hard-working.

What You’ll Do

You are accountable for raising the quality of the Orca navigation system to excellence. In particular:

Ensure that product releases are successful, where success is measured in user satisfaction - must be high - and time and effort - must be low.

Create a laboratory that allows you to simulate and replicate the behaviors of real boaters.

Implement and manage a test automation framework to validate product updates.

Set up and maintain a group of users that can help test and verify Orca products and updates - external beta groups.

Define and implement a process to record, track, and prioritize errors and issues found in the releases.

Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to achieve your goals.

Be an ambassador for quality best practices across the organization.

Design and execute processes to ensure operational excellence in designing, developing, and delivering hardware and software products to millions of boaters globally.

This role is a hybrid/on-premise role at our Madrid or Oslo office. The startup nature of the team provides many different opportunities for you to make an impact, and develop yourself.

What You’ll Bring

3+ years of experience being accountable for the quality of consumer-facing products with global outreach.

You have very high execution standards and have an eye for quality.

You are familiar with test automation frameworks for mobile.

You uphold great engineering standards around testing, documentation, and maintainability.

Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

You drive autonomy, proactivity, and ownership. You actively expand your comfort zone by exploring new or unfamiliar tasks.

Dedicated and ethical approach.

How we work

We are on a mission to disrupt the marine industry led by global companies such as Garmin and Navico. This requires setting the right direction, having a sharp focus, and delivering quickly.

We can do this only by bringing out the best in each of us. We help each other but also hold each other accountable to reach our very best.

We are pragmatic with processes. We think of them as organic and evolving systems. We measure the success of a given process by looking at its impact on employee or customer happiness and satisfaction. This is a never-ending process that we expect you to contribute to.

We are a multicultural team and English is our communication interface. We have a hybrid culture: while we have a strong remote culture, we strongly believe in the benefits of co-location. The team operates out of Barcelona, Madrid, and Oslo, with a few employees working remotely in other countries as well.

About the Team

You will be joining a small and close-knit team of industry veterans. We’ve been working in this space for years, and have several successful startups behind us. Our core experience is product development, software, and hardware engineering.

These are the 3 co-founders. Feel free to reach out to us if you want to know more about what we do.

Working at Orca means working on interesting problems, and having a direct impact on the people who use our products. We offer an opportunity to help build a product that is loved by hundreds of thousands of boaters, while also having the potential to disrupt an entire industry. You’ll be working with talented people building state-of-the-art consumer experiences.

We offer a competitive combination of salary and benefits. We believe that good talent shall be compensated accordingly. We also offer flexible working hours, flexible compensation, and opportunities for professional development and growth.
