Jobbeschreibung

At aedifion, you will play an active role in shaping the future of energy-efficient building operations. Our mission is to make existing buildings smarter, more sustainable and easier to manage, thereby making a real contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions. You will join an innovative technology company that uses state-of-the-art technologies such IoT, AI and cloud solutions to enable sustainable real estate. Our culture? Open, diverse and team-oriented. With over 100 colleagues from a variety of different countries, we combine a wide range of expertise and perspectives to achieve great things together.

Your impact in this position:

As a Project Engineer (f/m/d), your mission will be to ensure that our IoT solutions measurably increase the energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings. You will support client projects from implementation to operational optimisation, combining technical expertise with structured project management. You will also play a key role in reducing CO₂ emissions in the building sector in a sustainable way.

You will gradually take on independent responsibility for client projects, with the support of experienced colleagues who will guide you with their expertise. You will develop in-depth expertise in building services engineering, IoT systems, and project management, becoming a sought-after expert at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and client relations.

Your work will have a direct and visible impact: every project you oversee will help reduce energy consumption and make buildings fit for the future.

What you can expect:
  • Project support: Support the planning, coordination and implementation of smart building projects in close collaboration with experienced colleagues. Learn to manage complex client projects independently.
  • Technical solution development: Analyse client requirements and familiarise yourself with building services engineering. Together with cross-functional teams, develop bespoke concepts for energy-efficient building solutions.
  • Data analysis & optimisation: Analyse building operational data, identify energy-saving potential, and develop clear, actionable recommendations that will have a real impact on clients.
  • Client communication: Act as the link between technology and the client. Communicate project status transparently and build trusting relationships with asset managers, facility managers and partners.
  • Product feedback: Contribute your insights from practical project experience to the further development of our platform and processes, helping to shape the future of our solutions.
  • Personal development: Take advantage of structured onboarding, mentoring from experienced colleagues, and continuous professional development to systematically expand your technical and project management skills.

At aedifion, we foster an open and appreciative culture where everyone can flourish, regardless of their background, gender, age, ability or sexual orientation. We provide a safe environment in which to grow personally and work independently. Flexibility and openness are important to us so that everyone can work authentically and enjoy what they do. We particularly welcome applications from women.

What you bring along:
  • Education: A degree in Building Services Engineering, Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering or Utilities Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification, is essential for this role.
  • Initial experience: You will need a basic understanding of building services engineering, gained through work placements, part-time study or initial professional experience. A willingness to learn is more important than years of expertise.
  • Communication skills: The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and communicate effectively at various levels, from the technical team to senior management.
  • Working style: A structured, solution-oriented approach with the ability to prioritise, work independently, and seek support proactively when necessary.
  • Digital proficiency: Confidence in using digital tools, and willingness to quickly familiarise yourself with new systems, such as IoT platforms, project management tools (e.g. Jira and Confluence), and energy management systems.
  • Languages: Fluent written and spoken German and English (C1 level) to enable effective communication with clients and within an international team.
Benefits
  • Make a difference: Your work helps to reduce CO₂ emissions and make buildings more sustainable and energy-efficient.
  • Mobile work: Organise your working day according to your needs – with flexible working hours, short core working hours and the freedom to work from our modern office in Cologne, remotely from anywhere in Germany or up to 10 days a year from other European countries.
  • Feel-good offer: With 30 days of annual leave, you can relax and unwind, while fresh organic fruit, regional coffee, free drinks and our monthly team breakfast provide you with your daily energy boost.
  • Further training: We support you with tailor-made training opportunities to advance your career.
  • Tech stack: You will receive modern work equipment of your choice – whether Microsoft or Apple – as well as high-quality noise-cancelling headphones for focused work.
  • Mobility package: Always mobile: you can choose between the Germany Ticket or a Jobrad bike – for your commute or private use.
  • Pension provision: Subsidies for capital-forming benefits (VWL) or company pension schemes (bAV).
  • Stay active: With our Urban Sports Club membership, you have access to a wide range of sports and fitness offers – to help you recharge and stay healthy inside and outside of work.
  • #teamaedifion: Regular team events, working on an equal footing, actively sharing experiences and flat hierarchies promote strong teamwork and open communication within our team.
  • Dog-friendly office: Bring your dog along – we look forward to some animal support.
