ZEISS seeks a seasoned AI project leader with strong Product Owner experience to drive cross-functional AI initiatives across ML, DL, Generative AI, and Agentic AI. You will define scope, roadmaps, and streamline agile execution, reporting outcomes to multiple ZEISS departments.

The role requires managing budgets, stakeholder relationships, and cloud-based AI deployments, with fluent English and German language skills to communicate across teams.

Qualifikationen

• PhD preferred in a relevant field.
• Ability to understand AI architecture and modern web apps.
• Experience with feature engineering, both unsupervised and supervised learning, prompt engineering, RAG, and cloud deployment.
• Balance innovation with standardization at scale.
• At least 3 years in AI project management and Product Owner roles.
• Experience with budgeting and stakeholder management.
• Fluent in English and German.

Responsibilities

• In cross-functional teams, you will drive and manage projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence, encompassing Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, Generative AI and Agentic AI
• Support the preparation and execution of AI projects: from defining scope and roadmap planning, through agile execution, to conducting lessons learned that can be integrated into new projects
• As part of a dynamic team, you will engage with users from different ZEISS departments, assess and plan AI-related tasks, and report outcomes and results
• Enable our experts to focus on technical, high-quality solutions
• Serve as the interface between our technical experts and various ZEISS departments to create outstanding software products.

Requirements

• An excellent university degree (Ph.D. is a plus) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, or equivalent
• The ability to understand the technical architecture of AI solutions and state-of-the-art web applications
• Experience in feature engineering, unsupervised & supervised learning, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and model deployment and operation in the cloud
• A good understanding of balancing innovative flexibility at the edge with the benefits of standardization at the core
• At least 3 years of professional experience in project management of AI solutions
• Professional experience as a Product Owner
• Experience managing project budgets
• Experience in stakeholder management
• Experience with cloud-deployed AI solutions for clients
• The ability to understand customer needs and solve real-world problems
• Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills
• Basic knowledge of corporate data governance best practices (e.g., working with confidential data)
• Fluent English and German language skills
