Jobbeschreibung

Our Company

"Buying Labs is the leading global partner for sourcing and distributing premium consumer goods!"

We're looking for a Product Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Tech team at Buying Labs ideally based in Hamburg or remotely for the right fit. In this role, you'll combine deep technical skill with strong product thinking to build tools and features using AI that create real value for our users and our business. You'll own features end to end - from scoping and design through development, deployment, and adoption - and use AI to build smarter and faster at every step.

This is a role for builders who care about impact: people who understand both the user perspective and the underlying business processes, who can scope what needs to be built and then make it happen.

Your Mission
  • End-to-End Product Delivery: Own features from concept to production and real users, not just code -ship complete solutions that drive measurable business value. Scope requirements, define technical approaches, and deliver across frontend and backend, with quality built in from the start and verified through appropriate testing.
  • Product Thinking & User Focus: Understand user needs and business processes to identify what should be built and why. Translate product ideas and stakeholder input into shipped experiences that users actually adopt.
  • Building AI into Products: Design and integrate AI-powered features into our platform - not just using coding assistants, but building AI solutions that solve real problems for our users. Identify opportunities where AI can speed up workflows, improve decision‑making, or unlock new capabilities.
  • Data Modelling & Scalable Systems: Build solid data models and scalable architectures that serve as a reliable foundation for our products. Turn repeated work into shared building blocks (UI components, data import flows, AI pipelines) so each new tool is faster to build than the last.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Adoption: Work with stakeholders at all levels - from leadership to operations - to align on priorities and drive adoption of new tools and features. Communicate technical concepts clearly and build buy‑in for your solutions across the organisation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback early, iterate quickly, and continuously improve what you build. Stay current with emerging technologies and engineering best practices to keep our tools & systems ahead of what the business needs to keep the platform competitive.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with LLM tooling — provider APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini), agent and tool-use patterns (MCP), and evaluating output quality.
  • Familiarity with vector search technologies (pgvector or similar).
  • Hands‑on experience with product analytics and observability tools (e.g. PostHog, Sentry) to measure usage and drive adoption.
  • Experience integrating ERPs or operational systems (orders, inventory, master data).
  • Background in eCommerce, wholesale, or B2B platform environments.
  • Python for data tooling; Docker, GitHub Actions, AWS.
Your Profile
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in software development with a strong product mindset
  • Strong experience with TypeScript and modern React. Backend experience with Node.js, Express or comparable, REST APIs, and PostgreSQL with practical SQL. For mostly building new applications on our modern stack (React 19, Vite, TypeScript, Bun) and occasionally working in an established JavaScript codebase.
  • Familiarity with modern AI/ML frameworks and agentic AI systems and solid skills in data modelling and building scalable system architectures.
  • Comfort operating in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Hands‑on experience building AI into products (structured extraction, automation, RAG, or agentic workflows), not just using AI coding assistants.
  • Strong engineering quality mindset, with experience building reliable, maintainable products and validating them through appropriate testing.
  • Strong product sense — you understand business processes and the user perspective, not just the code.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with stakeholders at all levels and driving adoption of the solutions you build.
  • Proactive mindset with strong autonomy and initiative in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent English is required, German is a plus.
Why Us?

    • Work with motivated colleagues in an agile, ambitious, and friendly atmosphere where collaboration and fun go hand in hand with high speed.
