Zusammenfassung

Mott MacDonald is expanding its energy business in Germany and seeks a Principal Power System Studies Engineer to support major transmission and distribution projects in Germany and Europe.

You will develop and deliver power system studies, assess grid connections, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with utilities, developers and cross‑disciplinary teams across Europe.

Qualifikationen

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience performing power system studies for transmission networks.
  • Proficiency with industry software (DIgSILENT, PowerFactory, PSS SINICAL).
  • Knowledge of grid codes and utility standards.

Aufgaben

  • Deliver power system studies for transmission and distribution projects.
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, dynamic stability and contingency studies.
  • Assess grid code connections and compliance for renewables and storage.
  • Develop network models and technical reports.
  • Support grid connection applications and compliance assessments.

Overview of the role

Mott MacDonald is expanding its energy business in Germany and is seeking a Principal Power system study Engineer to support the delivery of major transmission and distribution projects across Germany and Europe.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who is energised by the challenge of building a specialist power systems capability in Germany. You will contribute to major grid reinforcement, renewable integration and interconnection projects supporting the energy transition.

As a Principal Power System Studies Engineer, you will undertake technical studies to support transmission and distribution network planning, design and operation. You will work closely with utilities, developers and multidisciplinary engineering teams across Europe

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Deliver power system studies for transmission and distribution projects
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, dynamic stability and contingency studies
  • Assess grid code connections and compliance requirements for renewable energy and energy storage projects
  • Develop network models and technical reports
  • Support grid connection applications and compliance assessments
  • Carry out power quality and harmonic distortion compliance assessments
  • Liaise with clients, transmission operators and regulatory authorities
  • Participate in technical reviews and design assurance activities
  • Support project teams with specialist power systems expertise
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence within the team
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience performing power system studies for transmission networks
  • Proficiency with software such as DIgSILENT, PowerFactory, PSS SINICAL
  • Knowledge of grid codes and utility standards
  • Experience within transmission, renewable energy or utility infrastructure
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English
  • Experience with 110kV, 220kV and 380kV networks
  • Experience working with TSO or DSO clients
  • Chartership or equivalent professional accreditation
  • Experience supporting grid connection and renewable integration projects
