Optimus Search is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer for energy, grid and HVDC technologies in Bavaria, Germany. You will contribute to high-power converter development from concept through validation and industrialisation.

You will design high-power converters, MV systems, grid-connected inverters and HVDC topologies; you will simulate, analyse and optimise performance and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or related discipline.
• Professional experience in power electronics development.
• Experience with high-power converters, MV systems, grid inverters, HVDC or DC/DC converters.
• Strong knowledge of IGBT/SiC technologies and converter topologies.
• Experience with PLECS and MATLAB/Simulink.

We are looking for an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to join an innovative engineering team working on next-generation energy, grid and HVDC technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-power converter systems that support the transition towards a more efficient, resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure.

The Role

As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will be involved in the development, design and optimisation of advanced power conversion systems, from concept through to validation and industrialisation.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Designing and developing high-power converters and medium-voltage (MV) converter systems
• Developing grid-connected inverters and power conversion architectures
• Working on DC/DC converters and high-power conversion topologies
• Supporting HVDC and grid integration projects
• Selecting, evaluating and applying IGBT and SiC semiconductor technologies
• Performing electrical, thermal and system-level analysis and simulations
• Developing and reviewing converter control strategies
• Supporting prototype development, testing and validation
• Working closely with hardware, control, software, systems and mechanical engineering teams
• Contributing to technical documentation, design reviews and product qualification

You will ideally have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related discipline
• Professional experience in power electronics development
• Experience with high-power converters, MV systems, grid inverters, HVDC or DC/DC converters
• Strong understanding of power semiconductor technologies, particularly IGBT and/or SiC
• Knowledge of converter topologies, switching technologies, magnetics and power semiconductor applications
• Experience with simulation and engineering tools such as PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink or similar
• An analytical and hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
