Zusammenfassung

The Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) in Garching near Munich invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the PROMULSION project on plant protein blends for improved emulsification. You will work in the Sustainable food colloids group under Dr.

Heiden-Hecht and collaborate with Fraunhofer IVV and the food industry. Tasks include running experiments with HPLC, interfacial rheology, drop tensiometry, and scattering methods, preparing manuscripts, presenting at conferences,

Qualifikationen

  • Master's degree preferably with a subsequent PhD in Physical-Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Material-Science or similar field
  • Background in proteins, HPLC, and/or scattering techniques
  • Excellent written and spoken English (CEFR B2 or higher); German knowledge is a plus

Aufgaben

  • Work on the PROMULSION project and plant protein colloids.
  • Perform lab work with HPLC, interfacial rheology, drop tensiometry, X-ray and Neutron scattering.
  • Prepare, execute and evaluate experiments; draft manuscripts and presentations.
  • Aim to apply for third-party projects.

Postdoctoral Researcher - Plant Protein Colloids within the IGF project PROMULSION

The Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) explores the structure and dynamics of soft and biological matter using state-of-the-art neutron scattering and complementary techniques. At the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching near Munich we, the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science - Neutron Methods (JCNS-4), operate a suite of advanced, high performance neutron scattering instruments. Your Job

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoc to join the "Sustainable food colloids group" under supervision of Dr. Heiden-Hecht within the project: "PROMULSION - Plant protein blends to improve emulsification properties". This project is a collaboration with Frauenhofer Institute IVV and Food Industry. Your tasks in detail:

  • Work in the before-mentioned project "PROMULSION"
  • Work at the cutting-edge of research onto plant proteins for sustainable food, using laboratory methods such as HPLC, interfacial rheology, drop tensiometry as well as characterization techniques like X-ray and Neutron scattering
  • Prepare, execute and evaluate experiments in the above-mentioned techniques
  • Draft, improve and prompt manuscripts and presentations at international conferences
  • Ideally applying for third party projects
Your Profile
  • A Master's degree preferably with a subsequent PhD degree in Physical-Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Material-Science or a similar field
  • A background in proteins, HPLC, and/or scattering techniques
  • Very good command of written and spoken English with extensive vocabulary is required (at least B2 level according to the CEFR), ideally supported by a certificate confirming the language level. Knowledge of the German language is not mandatory but certainly appreciated
  • Ability to work independently and as a player in a team
