Zusammenfassung

DESY in Hamburg seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Science Methods to advance HPC simulation software and data-driven modeling. You will work on molecular-continuum simulations, contribute to research software engineering for massively parallel code (ls1 mardyn, MaMiCo) and support teaching and publications.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or a related field and has deep expertise in scientific computing and HPC, plus strong collaboration

Postdoctoral Researcher Computational Science Methods

The DESY group "Information Technology" (IT) is participating in a variety of high profile national and European projects, evaluating new and innovative IT technologies. Recently, a new research group on computational and data science methods was launched within IT. The focus is to develop novel, efficient algorithms and methods to cope with the big amounts of data that require processing (incl. machine learning), as well as to develop innovative simulation technologies, for example for particle and multiscale problems.

About your role:
  • Research on HPC simulation software, particularly molecular-continuum simulations on supercomputer architectures
  • Research Software Engineering for massively parallel molecular and coupling software (especially ls1 mardyn, MaMiCo)
  • Supporting the professorship of HPC & Data Science in research and teaching
  • Preparation of publications; presentation of results at scientific conferences and related activities
About you:
  • Successfully completed university degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a comparable field as well as successfully completed PhD
  • ln-depth expertise in methods of scientific computing and high-performance computing
  • Strong, interdisciplinary teamwork and communication skills
