DFT in Darmstadt is seeking a Physicist / Computer Scientist as a C++ Software Developer to design and maintain software for our film scanners, enabling precise digitization and efficient workflows. You will work on the imaging pipeline, tool development, and code reviews, with opportunities to influence product design and contribute to high-quality, embedded software in a collaborative, open culture.

Required: degree in physics/CS/EE and several years of C++ experience; strong OO programming

Key Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining software applications for controlling and operating DFT film scanners
• Enhancing software functionality to support customer-specific workflows and requirements
• Optimizing and refining the imaging pipeline, from image acquisition through processing to storage
• Designing and implementing tools for system configuration, testing and quality assurance
• Performing code reviews and contributing to high standards of software quality and maintainability
• Analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving issues in existing software applications

Your Qualifications

• Degreein physics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a comparablequalification
• Severalyears of experience in programming with C++
  
• In-depthknowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  
• Analytical,goal-oriented, and creative approach to complex problems
• Optional:Experience in UI/UX design
• Optional:Knowledge of AI-supported image optimization and video analysis
