Forschungszentrum Jülich is seeking a PhD candidate to perform simulations of lattice quantum field theory and to develop analysis tools and simulation software. You will analyze, publish and present results while collaborating with group members and the Cluster Color meets Flavor.
Ideal candidates have a Master’s degree in physics, knowledge of lattice QFT, and experience with C/C++/Python, Linux, and HPC.
The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) operates JUPITER, Europe\'s first Exascale supercomputer and runs JUNIQ, the first European user infrastructure of quantum computing. Within the division HPC for Quantum Systems, the Simulation and Data Laboratory (SDL) Numerical Quantum Field Theory aims to understand the properties of strongly interacting/correlated matter such as the spectrum of QCD, and develops algorithms and implementations for various high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
The Institute for Advanced Simulation - Theory of Strong Interactions (IAS-4) deals with strong interactions in the non-perturbative arena, in particular with the structure and dynamics of hadrons and atomic nuclei. Of particular interest is the spectrum of quantum chromodynamics. Fundamental tools are Monte Carlo simulations, which are also successfully applied to strongly correlated electronic systems.
Within the Cluster of Excellence \"Color meets Flavor\" (CmF), JSC and IAS-4 offer a PhD opportunity with a focus on exotic hadrons.
