Barrington James is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Manager to establish and lead a brand new CMC CI function in Germany. The role involves shaping strategy, spanning multiple modalities, and delivering leadership-ready intelligence to inform technical and business decisions.

You will drive AI-enabled intelligence workflows, collaborate across CMC, strategy, business development and R&D, and stay ahead of industry trends and emerging manufacturing technologies.

Qualifikationen

• Strong CMC background across multiple modalities (small molecule, biologics, cell/gene).
• Experience in competitive or market intelligence or strategic analysis.
• Comfort with AI tools and data platforms for intelligence gathering.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into senior-level insights.
• Ability to work autonomously and shape a function with influence.
• Must be willing to relocate to Germany.

About The Opportunity

A leading global biopharmaceutical company is building out a brand new CMC Competitive Intelligence function and is looking for a Competitive Intelligence Manager to shape it from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to move beyond execution and into a role that directly informs technical and business strategy at leadership level, working across a broad range of modalities rather than being confined to one.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and maintain a competitive and market intelligence capability spanning CMC across multiple modalities
• Track competitor manufacturing, technical, and regulatory developments and translate them into strategic insight
• Deliver clear, actionable intelligence reports and briefings to CMC and technical leadership
• Use and help develop AI-driven and data-led tools to strengthen how intelligence is gathered, structured, and analysed
• Partner cross-functionally with CMC, strategy, business development, and R&D stakeholders to embed intelligence into decision-making
• Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor pipelines, and emerging manufacturing technologies

What We’re Looking For

• Strong CMC background with knowledge spanning multiple modalities (small molecule, biologics, cell/gene therapy or similar)
• Experience in or strong exposure to competitive intelligence, market intelligence, or strategic analysis
• Confident user of AI tools, with experience building, configuring, or optimizing data tools a strong advantage
• Ability to translate complex technical and scientific information into clear insight for senior stakeholders
• Comfortable working autonomously and shaping a function with genuine influence
• Need to relocate to Germany
