Zusammenfassung

VÆRIDION is seeking a PCB Layout Engineer to own the physical design of high-voltage propulsion battery and power-distribution PCBs. You will collaborate across electronics, hardware and manufacturing teams to ensure flight-ready, manufacturable hardware that meets IPC standards.

Based in Munich, you will drive multilayer PCB layouts, define stack-ups, and perform ECAD-MCAD co-design. Experience with high-reliability or Class 3 aerospace requirements is a plus.

Qualifikationen

  • Diploma, associate degree or vocational qualification in Electronics or related field.
  • Minimum of five years hands-on PCB layout or electronics design support.
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools (Altium preferred; OrCAD/Allegro, Zuken, Eagle, KiCad acceptable).
  • Strong knowledge of IPC PCB design, fabrication and assembly standards.

Aufgaben

  • Design, route and iterate multilayer PCB layouts from schematics and requirements.
  • Define PCB stack-ups, impedance geometries and reference planes with hardware engineers.
  • Co-design ECAD/MCAD with mechanical team and ensure enclosure/thermal fit.
  • Apply high-voltage layout discipline per IPC-2221 for aerospace battery systems.
  • Engineer for signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, manufacturability and thermal management.
  • Maintain PCB library with symbols, footprints and 3D models per IPC standards.
  • Produce fabrication/assembly data: Gerbers, drill files, BOMs, pick-and-place drawings.
  • Perform DRC and LVS; support design and readiness reviews.
  • Collaborate to implement design changes and resolve layout issues.
  • Coordinate with PCB fabricators and suppliers for DFM/DFA feedback.

Your Mission:

Join VÆRIDION on our journey to develop the world's first electric nine-seater aircraft. As a PCB Layout Engineer (all genders) in our Technology division, you will own the physical design of the printed circuit boards at the heart of our high-voltage propulsion battery and power-distribution systems, turning engineering intent into flight-ready, manufacturable and certifiable hardware. Partnering closely with our electronics, hardware and manufacturing engineers from schematic to fabrication, you will apply IPC standards and aerospace-grade design discipline to hardware that must be safe, reliable and light enough to fly – work that directly underpins the propulsion battery system at the core of our mission to bring electric flight to regional aviation.

Your Day-to-Day:
  • Design, route and iterate multilayer PCB layouts from schematics, netlists and engineering requirements.
  • Define and document PCB stack-ups, controlled-impedance geometries and reference-plane strategies together with the hardware engineers.
  • Perform ECAD-MCAD co-design with the mechanical team, including STEP exchange, board-outline and keep-out definition, and connector and component placement against enclosure and thermal constraints.
  • Apply high-voltage layout discipline - creepage and clearance, isolation barriers and 3W spacing - in line with IPC-2221 and the demands of aerospace high-voltage battery systems.
  • Engineer for signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, manufacturability and thermal management, using thermal vias, heavy-copper and metal-clad constructions.
  • Create and govern the PCB component library - schematic symbols, footprints and 3D models - in accordance with IPC standards.
  • Ensure designs comply with IPC-2221, IPC-7351 and IPC-6012 (including Class 3 expectations for high-reliability hardware) and other relevant IPC standards.
  • Produce complete fabrication and assembly data packages: Gerbers, ODB++/IPC-2581, drill files, BOMs, pick-and-place and assembly drawings.
  • Perform design rule checks (DRC), electrical rule checks and layout-versus-schematic verification, and support design and readiness reviews.
  • Collaborate with electronics and hardware engineers to implement design changes and resolve layout issues.
  • Partner with PCB fabricators and assemblers to resolve DFM/DFA feedback and manufacturing topics, and to qualify new suppliers and processes.
  • Maintain rigorous revision control, configuration management and technical documentation across the hardware baseline.
Your Profile:
  • Diploma, associate degree or vocational qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in PCB layout or electronics design support.
  • Proven proficiency with a professional ECAD tool such as Altium Designer (preferred), OrCAD/Allegro, Zuken, Eagle, KiCad or similar.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC PCB design, fabrication and assembly standards, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Solid understanding of multilayer stack-up design, controlled impedance and PCB manufacturing technologies (rigid, flex, rigid-flex, hybrid, thick-copper, metal-clad).
  • High attention to detail, disciplined documentation and configuration-control habits, and the ability to manage several boards and deadlines in parallel.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills in an English-speaking, cross-functional engineering environment.
  • IPC CID or CID+ is a plus.
  • Experience with high-voltage, high-power, high-speed, HDI (microvias, blind/buried vias) or mixed-signal PCBs is a plus.
  • Experience designing to high-reliability or Class 3 requirements, and familiarity with aerospace standards such as RTCA DO-160 (environmental) and RTCA DO-254 (airborne electronic hardware), are a plus.
  • Exposure to signal-integrity / power-integrity simulation and close collaboration with hardware engineers on SI/PI is a plus.
  • Familiarity with quality and compliance requirements in regulated industries (aerospace, automotive, medical or similar) is a plus.
  • Awareness of thermal-management and mechanical co-design for compact, vibration- and temperature-exposed hardware is a plus.
