Overview

Job Title: Network SME

Location: Stuttgart, Germany

Contract Duration: 3 to 6 months

Hybrid or Remote: Hybrid 2-3 Days

Responsibilities

• Manage Cato network devices and Extreme switches APs
• Design, configure, and deploy Extreme Networks solutions across enterprise environments
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for Extreme Networks switches, routers, wireless access points, and management platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and deliver scalable solutions
• Lead network upgrades, migrations, and integration projects
• Develop and maintain documentation including network diagrams, configuration standards, and operational procedures
• Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring
• Stay updated with the latest Extreme Networks technologies, firmware updates, and best practices
• Train and mentor junior network engineers and support staff
• Interface with Extreme Networks support and account teams for escalations and strategic planning

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and hand-on experience in configuring Cato network devices and Extreme switches APs
• Strong understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, QoS, and multicast
• Experience with Extreme Management Center (XMC), Fabric Connect, and ExtremeCloud IQ
• Certifications such as Extreme Certified Specialist (ECS) or Extreme Certified Expert (ECE) are highly desirable
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Experience in large-scale enterprise or service provider environments
• Familiarity with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible)
• Knowledge of network security principles and integration with firewalls and NAC solutions
