Zusammenfassung

MOTOR Ai GmbH in Berlin is seeking an experienced motion planning engineer to design and optimize safe vehicle trajectories for autonomous systems. You will implement planning algorithms, run simulations, and collaborate with perception and software teams to integrate outputs into the driving stack.

The role requires strong C++/Python, ROS/ROS2, and optimization skills, plus hands-on experience with simulation tools like CARLA or Gazebo, and a track record of real-time embedded constraint

Qualifikationen

• A completed degree in computer science, robotics, engineering, applied mathematics, or a comparable field or equivalent vocational training.
• 3+ years of experience in motion planning, robotics, or autonomous vehicle software.
• Proven experience developing motion planning/trajectory generation algorithms with optimization background (MPC, sampling-based planners).
• Strong C++ and/or Python skills, with ROS/ROS2 and planning libraries (OMPL/MoveIt) and solvers (CasADi/OSQP/IPOPT).
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 and simulation environments (CARLA, Gazebo) and knowledge of control theory, Kalman filters, linear algebra, and numerical optimization.
• Experience validating algorithms via simulation and real-world data, including edge-case analysis, and working with Git/CI-CD in real-time/embedded contexts.
• Cross-functional collaboration with perception and software teams and understanding of functional safety for autonomous systems.
• English C1 required; German is a plus.

Tasks

• Design and implement motion planning algorithms that generate safe and efficient vehicle trajectories under diverse driving conditions
• Optimize planned trajectories for safety, comfort, and efficiency, balancing competing constraints in real time
• Validate motion planning behavior in simulation and on real-world test data, identifying and resolving edge cases
• Work closely with perception and software integration teams to ensure motion planning outputs integrate reliably into the overall driving stack
• Ensure motion planning algorithms meet defined performance benchmarks and safety requirements for autonomous operation

Requirements

• A completed degree in computer science, robotics, engineering, applied mathematics, or a comparable field - or equivalent vocational training/apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline. Hands‑on experience counts at least as much as the formal qualification
• 3+ years of experience in motion planning, robotics, or autonomous vehicle software
• Proven experience developing motion planning/trajectory generation algorithms for robotics or autonomous vehicles, with a solid background in optimization techniques (e.g. model predictive control, sampling-based planners)
• Strong C++ and/or Python skills, with experience in motion planning frameworks/libraries (e.g. OMPL, MoveIt) and optimization solvers for trajectory optimization/MPC (e.g. CasADi, OSQP, IPOPT)
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 and simulation environments (e.g. CARLA, Gazebo), plus a solid grounding in control theory and state estimation (e.g. Kalman filters), linear algebra, and numerical optimization
• Experience validating algorithms via simulation and real‑world test data, including edge‑case analysis, and comfortable working with Git/CI-CD and real-time/embedded system constraints
• Experience working cross‑functionally with perception and software integration teams, with an understanding of functional safety requirements for autonomous systems
• An analytical, structured problem‑solving mindset, a safety‑conscious approach, and the ability to clearly communicate algorithmic trade‑offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• English C1 is required; German is a plus
