Qualifikationen

  • Relevant scientific degree (medical degree is a plus).
  • 3+ years in biopharmaceutical/pharma related industry or clinical expertise with patient facing position or medical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong personal initiative and functioning well as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent knowledge of pharmacovigilance, compliance and local regulations.

Aufgaben

  • Support the design and implementation of patient services at country level, aligned with other patient facing functions and in cooperation with global counterparts and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure Alexion captures the voice of patients and seeks efficiencies for patient support programs.
  • Bring expertise in new technology to support patients and their journey.
  • Interact with patients, HCPs and stakeholders; generate insights and translate into programs and tools.
  • Understand and interpret needs within the German healthcare system.
  • Present and validate programs with patients in collaboration with patient advocacy teams.
  • Ensure compliant, ethical, meaningful, valuable programs with quality checks (SOPs, local regulation, data privacy, PV).
  • Lead training on Medical Affairs topics related to patient support programs for relevant staff.
  • Participate in Brand Teams to capture internal stakeholder insights and influence decisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of local pharmaceutical regulation and implement Alexion policies.
  • Participate in review/approval of SOPs and documents for patient programs (PSP).
  • Ensure timely scientific/medical exchanges with external customers and internal partners per compliance and ethics standards.
  • Coordinate timely responses to Medical Information inquiries per local regulations.
  • Support implementation of medical affairs to assess indications, patient pathways, and management strategies.
  • Support development and execution of local Medical Affairs and Patient Support Plan and strategy.
  • Attend national/international meetings to gather intelligence and build stakeholder relationships.

This is what you will do:

The goal of the Medical Advisor Patient Support (PS) is to focus on patient needs for the continued improvement of patient services and healthcare management tools for a better patient outcome in Germany. The Medical Advisor Patient Support (PS) will be responsible for ongoing management of patient services, patient materials and healthcare tools. A flexible amount of time will be allocated to develop and continuously maintain the highest scientific and medical expertise especially in areas which affect Alexion and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert in these areas. The position will seek to improve the brand and company perception in the mind of patients and their families, treating physicians, and associated healthcare professionals.

You will be responsible for:
  • Support the design and implementation of patient services, based on patient's insight at country level, aligned with other patient facing functions (e.g. Medical Advisors, MSLs, Patient Advocacy Team) and in cooperation with relevant global counterparts and external stakeholders as well as managing vendors
  • Responsible to ensure that Alexion is capturing the voice of the patients and striving to find efficiencies of scale and scope for patient support programs
  • Bring expertise in new technology and innovative ways to support patients through their patient journey
  • External facing interactions with patients, HCPs and other stakeholders, where appropriate, generate insights on the needs of patients in Alexion-relevant indications and translate this knowledge into patient programs, patient materials and healthcare tools for patients
  • Adequately understand and make correct interpretations of their needs within the context of the German health care system
  • Responsible for the presentation and validation of programs with patients in collaboration with patient advocacy teams to ensure creation of meaningful programs
  • Ensure patients receive a compliant, ethic, meaningful and valuable program that is tracked with appropriate quality checks (focusing on compliance to Alexion SOPs, local regulation, data privacy, and PV reporting).
  • Lead training and continuous education on Medical Affairs topics, mainly but not limited to patient's support programs and associated SOP and procedures to all relevant Alexion staff direct or indirectly involved on these programs, such as nurses and healthcare providers.
  • Participate actively in Brand Teams to capture internal stakeholder's insights
  • Effective in influencing and decision making both internally and externally
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of and appropriately implement current local pharmaceutical regulation in conjunction with Regulatory Affairs and ensure implementation of Alexion policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the review and approval of new and update local SOPs and associated documents for patient programs, including but not limited to PSP
  • Ensure timely and informative scientific/medical exchanges with external customers and internal partners, which accurately reflect scientific data, in accordance with compliance policies and procedures as well as with legal and ethical standards.
  • Coordinate the timely and appropriate response to internal and external Medical Information enquiries in your region, utilizing global medical information resources and in line with local regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation of medical affairs practices to assess new indications, the treating community, patient pathways, diagnostic practices and management strategies in relevant disease areas.
  • Support the development and drive implementation of a local Medical Affairs and Patient Support Plan and strategy, to support best clinical practice and the overall corporate objectives.
  • Attend appropriate national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, assist personal education, ensuring to utilize these opportunities to develop relationships with important stakeholders.

  • Previous experience in a rare or ultra-rare disease environment is a distinct advantage
