Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a Lead GIS/CAD Specialist to manage a team of Fiber Management Specialists who create and maintain mapping records for the Lumos fiber network, ensuring accurate digitization and high data quality.

You will guide data management practices, collaborate with internal teams and vendors, develop business requirements for GIS applications to improve speed and reliability, and train staff while supervising performance for peak productivity.

Qualifikationen

• 5-8 years’ experience in CAD, GIS, and telecommunications industry.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proactive, independent, and ability to take initiative to stay on-task.
• Experience leading teams, guiding employees with a focus on development and performance.
• Fiber or Telecom industry experience required.

Aufgaben

• Leads a team of Fiber Management Specialists to produce, maintain, and revise mapping records for Lumos fiber network.
• Ensure success of fiber network digitization and maintain data quality standards.
• Advise team on best practices for data management and workflows.
• Compile geographic data from digital sources, census data, satellite imagery, aerial photos, and existing maps.
• Develop business requirements for GIS applications to facilitate faster construction, lower cost, and improved reliability.
• Enter new map data using GIS and CAD in line with cartography principles.
• Assign work and assess productivity and performance.
• Train new staff in day-to-day tasks and mentoring leads.
• Assist team with CAD and GIS problems of medium to high complexity.
• Perform large-scale training across the organization in GIS usage.
• Collaborate across internal teams and with external vendors.
• Document business requirements to evaluate off-the-shelf software.
• Evaluate employee performance and identify training opportunities with HR.
• Maximize productivity, morale, and retention through empowerment and teambuilding.
• Perform other duties and cross-functional projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of Fiber Management Specialists to produce, maintain, and revise mapping records that help the entire organization build and maintain the Lumos fiber network.
• Responsible for ensuring the success of fiber network digitization and maintaining data quality standards.
• Advises team on best practices for data management and workflows.
• Compiles geographic data from digital sources, census data, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
• Develop business requirements for custom GIS applications for OSP Engineering & Construction to facilitate speed of construction, lower cost, and improve reliability of fiber network.
• Enter new map data utilizing GIS and CAD software in alignment with cartography principles including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
• Assigns work and assesses productivity and performance, ensuring optimal output.
• Trains new staff in day-to-day tasks and ensures leads are capable of doing the same.
• Assists team with solving CAD and GIS problems of medium and sophisticated complexity.
• Performs large-scale training of employees across the organization in the use of GIS software.
• Collaborates effectively across internal teams and with external vendors.
• Understands and documents business requirements to evaluate commercial off the shelf software for suitability to support company missions.
• Evaluates employee work performance; identifies appropriate training and counseling opportunities when needed in partnership with leadership and HR team.
• Maximizes team productivity, morale, and retention through empowerment techniques, teambuilding, and maintaining strong relationships with support teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including departmental and cross-functional projects.

Requirements

• 5-8 years’ experience in CAD, GIS, and telecommunications industry.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proactive, independent, and ability to take initiative to keep on-task and on-target.
• Experience leading teams, guiding employees from a career perspective focused on continuous improvement, performance management, long-term development, and employee relations in consultation with human resources and other teams.
• Fiber or Telecom industry experience required.
