Terma Group is seeking a Linux System Administrator for our EUMETSAT project in Darmstadt, Germany. You will manage IT core services, virtualization, and infrastructure technologies including VMware, GNU/Linux, and IBM AIX. The role requires experience with automation, monitoring, and enterprise hardware.
Fluency in English is mandatory. The position is full-time and can be on-site in Darmstadt or off-site from Germany, Czech Republic, or Romania, starting in December 2026.
For our customer EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Linux System Administrator with wide technical knowledge on design and operation of IT core services. The main activities involve virtualization and infrastructure technologies, VMware, GNU/Linux and IBM AIX.
The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is an intergovernmental organisation created through an international convention agreed by a current total of 30 European Member States.
EUMETSAT's primary objective is to establish, maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites. EUMETSAT is responsible for the launch and operation of the satellites and for delivering satellite data to end-users as well as contributing to the operational monitoring of climate and the detection of global climate changes.
Your tasks will typically include but are not limited to:
For day to day activities you shall apply the relevant change control and maintenance procedures. The complex environment requires a wide background of technical knowledge therefore your natural curiosity will help you to resolve complicated situations.
This is a full time position, located at our customer EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, starting in December 2026 onwards. Standby / call-out support and provision of support to critical operations, may sometimes be required.
The ideal candidates have an academic degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent and possess the following skills:

Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as English is the working language. This is a full-time position, located either at our customer EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany or delivered off-site from Germany, Czech Republic or Romania, starting in December 2026 onwards. Standby / call-out support and provision of support to critical operations may sometimes be required.
The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team.
