Zusammenfassung

Nexamp is seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer to guide the energization of PV, BESS, and hybrid projects, ensuring safe, on-time delivery and fault-free performance. You will own SCADA/telemetry validation and lead technical reviews to align with contracts, market specs, and financing expectations.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with Deployment and external contractors, and drive standardization of commissioning practices while supporting remote and field testing as needed.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years designing and commissioning electrical power systems.
  • 4+ years in renewables such as Solar, Wind, and Storage.
  • Experience in controls engineering for utility-scale renewable/hybrid energy.
  • Knowledge of inverter parameter setting and common protocols (Modbus/TCP, DNP3.0).

What we’re looking for:

Nexamp is looking to hire a Lead Commissioning Engineering to join it’s Clean Energy Deployment team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Nexamp projects are safely and reliably energized on schedule, moving through project milestones, including, Mechanical Completion (MC), Permission to Operate (PTO) and Substantial Completion (SC). You will leverage deep SCADA and data acquisition expertise across utility-scale and distributed generation projects to validate that assets perform as modeled and as represented to financing partners, banks, and utilities, and to close gaps in our growing SCADA pipeline. By owning the technical review and implementation of SCADA and related controls, you will help turn projects on, maintain critical deadlines, and confirm that operational performance aligns with contractual, market, and internal performance requirements.

We are ideally supporting hybrid work out of either our Boston or Chicago offices, but are open to supporting remote work across the country. You will report to the Director, Commissioning Engineering.

What you’ll do:
  • Independently leadingthe commissioning of PV,Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)from pre-energization through project operational turnover.
  • Actingas a primary troubleshooting resourcefor the Commissioning Engineering and Field Commissioning teams, providingexpert levelsupport on common electrical, protection, and SCADA/communications issues surfaced during commissioning and early operations.
  • Managingproject commissioning schedules in partnership with Deployment, SCADA, Engineering, and external contractors, ensuring thatinverter, DAS, SCADA, BESS, andprotection systemcommissioning stays aligned with construction and interconnection milestones.
  • Providingremote support and occasional field support for DAS, inverter,BESSand SCADA commissioning as well as witness tests.
  • Reviewingand validatingsite performance of assets once live, including managing or executing performance testing andidentifyingand troubleshooting underperformance.
  • Lead Data Acquisition System (DAS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system design for PV, BESS, and hybrid PV+BESS (DC- and AC-coupled) projects, including interpreting market, utility, and ISO SCADA/telemetry and controls requirements and coordinating the procurement and installation of required telecom, hardware, and software infrastructure.
  • Assistinthe development of SCADA engineering standards for utility scale applications.
  • Mentorand train junior commissioningteam membersand field technicians to increase their capabilities.
  • Support continuous improvement of networking equipment, products, and quality assurance processes by conducting research, contributing to commissioning best-practices documentation, and actively sharing experience and best practices.
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education/certification background.
  • At least 7 years of experience designing and commissioning electrical power systems, or network design.
  • At least 4 years of experience in renewables such as Solar, Wind, and Storage,
  • Experience incontrolsengineering for utility-scale renewable/hybrid energy, PV/BESS, (AC-coupled/DC-coupled systems) preferred.
  • Knowledge of inverter parameter setting procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience with technical communications protocols (Modbus/TCP, DNP3.0, etc.), commonly used controls software/hardware platforms, and communication standards (MESA, Sunspec, etc.).
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with various relays, meters, SCADA Gateways, and Data Concentrators, experience with programming of RTACs, preferred.
  • Expertise in commissioning and resolving site technical issues, proven success in independently troubleshooting challenging SCADA related technical issues.
  • MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency.
  • Knowledge of industry standard design codes and electrical engineering andrelayingprinciples.

Compensation

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $140,000 - $155,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
