SCAYLE in Berlin is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for Checkout to drive architecture and deliver highly scalable backend services in collaboration with a cross-functional team. You will mentor engineers, define architectural decisions, and champion modern AI tooling within an agile, international environment.

Proficiency in PHP 8+, Symfony/Laravel, MySQL/Redis, Kubernetes/AWS, and deployment pipelines is essential; English communication required.

Qualifikationen

• 10+ years of total experience, with 5–6 years as a Backend Developer.
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring team members.
• Extensive backend development with PHP 8+ in scalable, high-load environments.
• Deep expertise in Symfony and Laravel, adhering to best practices for building scalable applications.
• Strong proficiency in MySQL and Redis.
• Deep understanding of engineering principles and software architecture, including event-driven architecture.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS, as well as managing deployment pipelines (e.g., GitLab or similar tools).
• Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.

• Define architectural decisions and ensure the delivery of reliable, state-of-the-art products.
• Lead and mentor a world-class engineering team, collaborating with Product Managers, QAs, and Designers to ship new components and features.
• Champion best practices in agentic engineering, efficiently leveraging modern AI tooling.
• Work within a dynamic, international, and agile environment (SCRUM/Kanban) characterized by flat hierarchies and very short decision-making processes.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Golang or exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) and related technologies is a plus
