GMX, WEB.DE & mail.com is seeking a Platform Engineer to develop and operate a Kubernetes platform on bare-metal infrastructure. You will automate build and deployment processes with modern CI/CD practices and enhance cloud-native services for hundreds of applications with millions of users.

You will contribute to Kubernetes Operators, service mesh, storage, and GPU solutions, working closely with senior engineers and the open-source community to push the platform forward.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable qualification.
• Experience with Kubernetes in on-prem environments and Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC tools.
• Strong Linux skills with Bash, Python, and/or Go and modern Git workflows.
• Passionate about Platform Engineering, automation, observability, and scalable distributed systems.
• Communicate in English and enjoy teamwork; eager to grow technical expertise.

• Develop and operate our Kubernetes platform on a bare‑metal infrastructure with more than 85,000 CPU cores.
• Automate and optimize platform, build, and deployment processes using modern CI/CD practices.
• Maintain and enhance cloud‑native platform services supporting more than 500 applications and over 42 million users.
• Develop Kubernetes Operators and extend our platform with technologies such as service mesh, storage, and GPU solutions.
• Work closely with experienced platform and infrastructure engineers and contribute to open‑source technologies.

Your Profile

Do you have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable qualification, and have already gained practical experience in platform, infrastructure, or cloud environments? You do not need to master every technology mentioned below - solid foundational knowledge, a willingness to learn, and a passion for technology are what matter most. We will help you grow the rest.

• Experience with Kubernetes in on‑premises environments as well as Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Strong Linux skills and comfortable working with technologies such as Bash, Python, and/or Go, as well as modern Git workflows.
• Passionate about Platform Engineering, automation, observability, testing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
• Confidently communicate in English, enjoy working collaboratively in a team, and are committed to continuously developing technical expertise.
