Huawei Ohm Research Center in Nuremberg invites applications for an Intern – AIDC Power Supply, PV & BESS Integration & Grid Stability (m/f/d). Join a team researching AI-driven power system simulations and resilient grid architectures.

You are pursuing a Master’s/PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field, with strong programming skills (Python, C/C++) and familiarity with PSCAD/DIgSILENT. English fluency required.

Qualifikationen

• Pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field.
• Strong interest in energy systems, AI, simulation or software development.
• Experience with power system modeling and simulation tools such as PSCAD or DIgSILENT PowerFactory is preferred.
• Candidates with programming, AI or data-analysis skills, especially in Python, C/C++ are welcome.
• Knowledge of AIDC/data-center power systems, grid stability, EMT simulations, grid-forming control or microgrids is a plus.

• Build and improve simulation models for AIDC, PV and BESS systems and analyze their interaction with the power grid.
• Explore how AI and data-driven methods can improve power system simulation, event identification and resilience assessment.
• Independently investigate topics such as AIDC–PV/BESS coupling and microgrid architectures.
• Turn technical findings into insights, prototypes and research recommendations with international teams.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Your mission

• Research emerging challenges in AIDC power supply, PV/BESS integration, grid stability and power system resilience
• Build and improve simulation models for AIDC, PV and BESS systems, and analyze their dynamic interaction with the power grid
• Explore how AI, data-driven methods and automation can improve power system simulation, event identification, fault analysis and resilience assessment
• Independently investigate selected technical topics such as AIDC–PV/BESS coupling, grid-forming technologies, microgrids and resilient power supply architectures
• Turn technical findings into insights, prototypes, presentations and research recommendations, and work with international engineering and research teams on real-world innovation topics

Your areas of expertise

• You are currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field
• You have a strong interest in energy systems, AI, simulation or software development, and enjoy solving open-ended technical problems
• Experience with power system modeling and simulation tools such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar platforms is preferred
• Candidates with strong programming, AI or data-analysis skills, especially in Python, C/C++ or similar languages, are also highly welcome
• Knowledge of AIDC/data-center power systems, grid stability, resilience, EMT simulation, grid-forming control or microgrids would be a plus
• You are curious, self-motivated and comfortable working independently on selected research topics, with fluent written and spoken English
