Our client is a successful manufacturer of pharma, otc and food supplements.

The German production site is located in Northern Germany within Bremen region.

Position profile

The Operations Director will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the German production sites, of the effective definition and implementation of the production plans, to ensure alignment with sales forecasts and the timely delivery of products, whilst keeping high quality standards in compliance with regulations, and a cost-effective production process.

The Industrial Controller (m/f/d) will be in charge to support the definition and implementation of the cost model for materials, labor, and overhead across the production process. In this key role, the Industrial Controller will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and analyzing standard and actual cost accounting for the production site in Bremen region. The Industrial Controller will also contribute to the consolidation of cost data at the group level with a strong focus on cost control and profitability. As part of the site management team, the Industrial Controller will support the Site Manager with financial analysis and decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define the group-wide cost model for materials, labor, and overhead in the production process and support its implementation across the organization
  • Assist in the consolidation and analysis of cost data provided at the group level
  • Implement, maintain, and analyze standard and actual costing for materials, labor, and overheads in line with group policies and schedules
  • Monitor and control production costs, including labor, material usage, and machine overheads
  • Define manufacturing costs and support sales and product development teams in cost estimation and final pricing
  • Regularly monitor and adjust hourly rates for labor and machine utilization
  • Collaborate with Operations to identify and report cost deviations and trends; recommend actions to improve efficiency and optimize cost structures
  • Conduct inventory analysis and support improvements in inventory turnover; monitor inventory valuation
  • Contribute to working capital management initiatives
  • Support Operations in developing detailed budgets and forecasts, with a focus on cost control and profitability
  • Develop and manage KPIs related to cost control, production efficiency, and profitability
  • Prepare required financial reports and analysis
  • Support Operations in evaluating the financial impact of production changes (e.g., new product lines, process adjustments) through financial modeling and scenario analysis
  • Evaluate capital investment projects (e.g., ROI calculations) and support decision-making processes
  • Participate in group-wide finance projects as required
  • Work closely and proactively with Operations teams

In order to meet the requirements, the candidate profile aims to attract experienced industrial controllers capable of driving significant improvements and contributing to the growth of the company.

Professional experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Controlling/Accounting and/or Production, Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in industrial controlling
  • Solid experience in production cost accounting
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a logical and technical mindset
  • Attention to detail while maintaining a holistic view
  • Structured and independent work style
  • High self-motivation and strong result orientation
  • Excellent communication skills in both German AND English
  • Ideally, a solid understanding of the technical aspects of production processes
