Jobbeschreibung

Join us in solving one of industrial robotics' toughest challenges

R3 Robotics is developing the AI-powered dismantling platform that transforms end-of-life electric vehicle systems into strategic sources of critical materials. As global electrification accelerates, the surge in batteries and e-motors requires automated solutions that manual disassembly cannot provide. We are addressing this industrial bottleneck by enabling the automated dismantling of complex systems at scale through computer vision, artificial intelligence, and specialized robotic tooling.

Following a successful €20M Series A funding round led by HG Ventures and Suma Capital, we are expanding across Europe and preparing for our entry into the United States market in 2026. We partner with major industrial recyclers and automotive OEMs to deliver measurable impact. If you seek to work on advanced robotics within a well-funded organization scaling internationally, this is your opportunity.

Your Role

We are looking for a Head of Advanced Robotics to lead and drive innovation in our robotic applications. This role is a highly technical, hands‑on position focused on architecting, developing, and advancing intelligent robotic systems. You will act as the technical authority for robotics, shaping the evolution of our robotic platforms while working closely with cross‑functional teams to bring cutting‑edge solutions from concept to production.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive innovation in R3 Robotics applications, from advanced research and prototyping to production deployment.
  • Serve as the technical owner and subject‑matter expert for robotics software, with a strong focus on ROS and ROS2 architectures and their latest advancements.
  • Architect, implement, and continuously evolve intelligent robotic control systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain ROS/ROS2‑based robotic software stacks, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Write detailed product and system specifications and lead the overall software design strategy for robotics‑related products within the R3 Robotics portfolio.
  • Collaborate with leadership, R&D, product, and manufacturing teams to influence long‑term robotics and automation technology roadmaps.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and design reviews for robotics engineers and software developers and lead their effort towards the best technical solution.
  • Support and manage technical relationships with external software consultants and technology partners as needed.
Your profile
  • Advanced degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience in robotics development, preferably within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Deep expertise in advanced robotic frameworks (ROS, ROS2), with a proven track record of:
  • Task and path planning for a 6-DoF robot, 2-DoF loading station, and bespoke end‑effectors in complex, collision‑rich environments.
  • Developing and maintaining high‑fidelity digital twin simulations and implementing calibration procedures to ensure alignment between simulation and real systems.
  • Implementing closed‑loop control algorithms in collaboration with perception and vision teams.
  • Passion for robotics innovation and staying at the forefront of ROS/ROS2 advancements and the broader robotics ecosystem.
  • Strong background in system architecture, software design, and robotics software industrialization.
  • Proven experience in industrial robot programming (ABB, KUKA, FANUC, or similar).
  • Proven ability to lead technically complex projects from concept through deployment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Hands‑on, proactive, and solution‑oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Why us?
  • High degree of collaboration and autonomy while working with a group of highly skilled, committed and supportive peers
  • Transparent culture where everyone of us is highly valued
  • Development of your professional skills and knowledge by taking ownership of challenging tasks and responsibilities, supported by Leads and peers
  • “Getting things done” attitude, and access to cutting edge technologies
  • A guaranteed steep continuous learning curve from day one
