A leading parking management technology firm in Erlangen is seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer to integrate and test technical devices. You'll analyze and optimize systems including IoT hardware and payment terminals, working in both office and hybrid environments. Candidates should have experience with ANPR/ALPR cameras, IoT devices, and strong analytical skills. This role includes remote monitoring and on-site assignments when needed, alongside opportunities for professional growth and collaboration within diverse teams.

PRM Parking Management combines state-of-the-art hardware—cameras, payment terminals, barriers, access control systems, displays, traffic lights, sensors, and control units—with powerful software and cloud solutions. Our IoT systems operate reliably in the field thousands of times every day.

We are looking for aHardware Systems Engineer to join our technology and integration team. The role involves integrating, analyzing, and testing technical devices, and ensuring that our systems run smoothly and reliably at all times. Our technology includes camera systems, payment devices, IoT hardware, controllers, mobile routers, and edge devices.

Your responsibilities

• Camera tests, firmware checks, and functional tests in the lab
• Remotefine-tuning and optimization
• Analysis of image quality, trigger behavior, and monitoring data

Hardware & IoT Integration

• Integration of barriers, access control systems, sensors, control units, displays, traffic lights, and controllers via RS232/485, CAN, relays/GPIO, and TCP/IP
• Optimization of signal paths and device logic
• Analysis of existing customer hardware and protocols (including reverse engineering)

Payment Terminals & Ticket Vending Machines

• Integration via API, SDK, or proprietary interfaces
• Analysis of monitoring data, identification of systematic error patterns
• Identification of sustainable improvement measures
• Collaboration with Development, Support, and Engineering

On-site assignments (as needed)

• Complex parking areas
• Introduction of new generations of hardware
• Specialized testing under real-world conditions
  → Not a traditional field service role, but on-site assignments are part of the job.

• Technical documentation of configurations, tests, and diagnostics

Your profile

Must-have

• Experience with ANPR/ALPR cameras (remote adjustment and configuration)
• Experience with barriers, access control, sensors, control units, and IoT hardware
• RS232/485, CAN, GPIO/Relay, TCP/IP
• Payment & Ticket Integration (API/SDK/Protocols)Monitoring Analysis & Technical Diagnosis
• Linux Basics on Edge/IoT Devices (SSH, Logs, Networking)
• Scripting Basics (Python/Bash)
• Experience with IoT devices, mobile routers, and PoE infrastructure
• Experience with Teltonika routers (RUT series) for IoT connectivity
• Structured Technical Documentation
• Analytical Thinking & Systematic Troubleshooting
• Hands‑on approach, high standards of quality (with a focus on stability)
• Clear communication with support, development, and project teams
• Working independently, making decisions on the spot

Nice-to-have

• Reverse engineering of protocols/signals (sniffing/tracing)
• Experience with payment terminal specifics
• Experience with PRTG (monitoring software)
• Network tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark
