Job Description

In an increasingly connected world, the pandemic has underscored the critical role of telecom networks. The Network Infrastructure group is driving a revolution in connectivity, delivering faster and larger network capacity worldwide through innovation and technical expertise.

As part of the Optical Networks division, you will work in an environment where scale meets AI‑driven data center innovation. With Nokia’s acquisition of Infinera, the unit blends cutting‑edge technology with proven leadership to reshape the future of connectivity.

Nokia is a global communication solutions provider operating in more than 130 countries. The Optical Networking Business Unit leads the industry in high‑speed optical equipment, and the Nokia 1830 PSS team is expanding, seeking professionals to improve network flexibility and operational automation.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Line Managers and R&D teams to define standardization strategies that align with Nokia’s product directions in Optical Transport, Ethernet, and Physical Layer topics.
  • Develop, internally review, and externally advocate for standard contributions that support Nokia’s strategic priorities.
  • Represent Nokia in industry forums such as ITU‑T Study Group 15, OIF PLL tracks, IEEE 802.3, OpenROADM, and other MSAs.
  • Prepare internal reports and briefings on standardization progress for R&D and PLM teams.
  • Build trusted relationships and influence senior executives across business and technical functions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer, electrical, software, systems engineering, physics, or computer science; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Minimum five years of telecom product experience, either with network operators or equipment suppliers.
  • Five years of product management or consulting engineering/network architecture experience with a solid grasp of market requirements for optical, Ethernet, and/or IP/MPLS networking solutions.
  • Business acumen and proficiency with optical networking technologies (OTN, high‑speed Ethernet).
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging standards (IEEE, OIF, ITU‑T, OpenROADM).
  • Basic understanding of optical physical layers: CWDM, DWDM, coherent modulation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate shifting business models into technical requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging engineers, executives, and customers.
  • Experience in delivering presentations to diverse audiences and leading standards discussions.
  • Conflict management, negotiation, and stakeholder‑influencing abilities.
  • Organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing demands.
