UNOPS Myanmar is seeking a graphic designer on a retainer contract to support design needs for internal and external communications. The role involves creating reports, posters, presentations, videos, icons, and other materials for print and web, in line with UNOPS branding.
The ideal candidate has strong Adobe Creative Cloud skills (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), experience across print and digital media, and proficiency in English and Burmese. A related degree and portfolio are required.

The Asia Pacific Regional Office, based in Bangkok, Thailand, provides strategic leadership and oversight for UNOPS operations across 17 countries, ensuring high performance, operational excellence, and alignment with organizational goals. UNOPS Myanmar is one of UNOPS’ leading offices in Asia, acting as the fund manager for some of the largest development programmes in the country. In addition, UNOPS is the Principal Recipient for the Global Fund in Myanmar and for the Global Fund’s regional artemisinin-resistance initiative towards the elimination of Malaria, which works to accelerate progress toward malaria elimination in the Greater Mekong sub-region. UNOPS provides procurement, infrastructure, and project management services to a wide range of organizations in the country, including international development partners, other UN agencies and INGOs. UNOPS plays a critical role in ensuring that the quality of services provided to its partners meets stringent requirements of speed, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Under the overall supervision of Deputy Head of Programme Management Office/Asia-Pacific CFM, the Graphic Designer will be responsible to support UNOPS Programmes on a need basis, and as defined in the task note. The graphic designer will support the communications work of the fund/programmes in the Myanmar Country Office. S/he will assist in the designing of various internal/external materials (i.e. reports, posters, presentations, videos, icons, etc.) for print and web.
** IMPORTANT INFORMATION **
Retainer positions are not full-time positions. They constitute a contract under which the Retainer may be requested to provide a specific output/deliverable on short notice within a specified period. When holding a retainer contract, individuals may receive ad hoc requests from UNOPS project teams, and the number of requests will vary depending on current needs. UNOPS shall have no obligation to obtain any minimum quantity of services from the Individual Contractor during the duration of the retainer ICA.
This is a local position. Only nationals of Myanmar or persons in Myanmar with a residence and work permit are eligible.
The objective of this position will be to provide dedicated capacity in the design and implementation of the internal and external communications activities, in line with the Funds/Programmes/Projects Communications Strategies.
Ensure that all publications, reports and products are produced in line with current communications practice and graphic guidelines.
Implement the graphic guidelines in all communication products.
Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based presentations.
Design and lay‑out of reports and other products.
Develop, improve and edit designs for maps, photos, videos, graphics, figures and other graphic elements.
Layout and design information and communication materials (banners, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards).
Producing clear, concise and vivid materials that convey key messages to target audiences, including collateral materials for events, social media and website, ensuring accessibility and digital usability.
Designing and laying out materials in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Google Workspace.
Deliver creative graphic and technical solutions for use of new media (virtual 3D words/boxes, postcards).

Work with printing agencies to ensure high-quality products.

Secondary school (or equivalent) in any discipline with 6 years of relevant experience OR
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferably in graphic design, fine arts, marketing and advertising, media and communications or related area with 2 years of relevant experience OR
Master’s degree (or equivalent) preferably in graphic design, fine arts, marketing and advertising, media and communications or related area with 0 years of relevant experience is required
Certification or diploma in graphic design, fine arts, marketing and advertising, media is desired

Relevant experience is in graphic design, visual communication, or multimedia production.
Excellent command of Adobe CC suite DTP software i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is required.
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (e.g. Google Suite Applications) is required.
Experience designing documents in Google Workspace.
Basic understanding of Front-end user interface and human-computer interaction from a design perspective would be an asset.
Experience designing products for UN agencies or NGOs is an advantage.
Experience of working in a creative marketing or advertising company would be an added advantage.
