The Exploration Company seeks an experienced Flight Software Senior Engineer to lead embedded software for Nyx, our modular orbital vehicle. You will own architecture, development and verification of flight software across real-time, safety-critical systems with close collaboration across engineering disciplines.

You'll work within the In-Orbit Services team in the Future Systems Department and coordinate with the Nyx Flight Software team to deliver reliable software for future spacecraft,

• Proven experience in developing software architectures for aerospace or complex systems.
• Real-time distributed system design with timing constraints and safety-critical applications.

• Familiarity with HIL and SIL testing methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaborative skills.
• Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.

Description

xperienced Flight Software Senior Engineer to lead the development of the embedded, critical software running aboard our future fleet of spacecraft. You will be part of the In-Orbit Services team within the Future Systems Department, reporting to the Principal Engineer of the project and working closely with the other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Flight Software Senior Engineer, you will be in charge of defining and implementing the flight software for servicing spacecraft. You will coordinate tightly with the Nyx Flight Software team to develop synergies. Your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day-to-day duties will include:

• Take ownership of work packages or full future projects related to Flight Software:

  • Define functional breakdowns, high level requirements and their associated flow-down and manage / maintain the technical baselines to ensure that the design answers the needs of the respective project

  • Manage interfaces and requirements towards Avionics and other hardware sections

  • Provide software architectures and conceptual designs, perform technical trade-offs, budget and performance calculations

  • Develop elements of low-level software (operating systems, system drivers, communication protocols etc) and high-level software (applications, control algorithms etc)

  • Provide development logic, implementation, verification and validation plans

• Ensure the delivery on time, on quality and on cost of the work packages in your responsibility

• In coordination with the Bid Manager, elaborate the technical and programmatic parts for Flight Software related work packages to submit winning proposals for new future projects

What we would love to see from you

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, five years of professional work in a related area.

• Proven experience in developing software architectures for aerospace or similar complex systems.

• Proven experience in real-time distributed system design, implementation, and debugging, with a focus on timing constraints, synchronization, and deterministic behaviour in safety‑critical applications.

• Strong background in software development, with proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink.

• Familiarity with hardware in the loop (HIL) and software in the loop (SIL) testing methodologies.

• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
