Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Germany seeks a Flight Test Ground Station Systems Architect (m/w/d) to lead the end-to-end architectural lifecycle for FTGS tools such as FTGS-Core, FIDA, and Add-On components.

You will define comprehensive system requirements, design modular, scalable architectures, guide cross-functional IPTs, and ensure interoperability, V&V, and future-proof tech.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Several years of experience in system architecture or design of complex technical systems, ideally in Aerospace/Defense.
• Deep knowledge of Flight Test Ground Station systems, telemetry, data processing, and data analysis.
• Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).

In order to support the Flight Test Ground Station Germany Team Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Flight Test Ground Station Systems Architect (m/w/d).

Your tasks and responsibilities

• you will lead the end-to-end architectural lifecycle for a complex suite of flight test tools, including FTGS-Core, FIDA, and various Add-On tools.


• you will be responsible for defining and documenting comprehensive system requirements, balancing operational needs, technical constraints, and stringent regulatory requirements.


• your core mission involves developing and iterating robust architectures encompassing hardware, software, and network infrastructure.


• Utilizing established architectural patterns and best practices, you will design modular, scalable systems and produce high-quality design specifications, interface definitions, and technical documentation.


• You will play a decisive role in evaluating and selecting the technologies and components necessary for successful system implementation, ensuring seamless interoperability and compatibility between various subsystems and external interfaces.


• Beyond design, you will drive technical excellence by establishing development best practices, conducting detailed design studies, and overseeing validation and verification (V&V) strategies. You will actively support the system integration process and contribute to the creation of test strategies to validate architecture and performance.


• A key aspect of this role is cross-functional leadership within an Integrated Product Team (IPT). You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-including software, hardware, test, and operations engineers-to resolve complex technical challenges.


• By leading \"tiger teams\" to address critical issues and facilitating continuous improvement through rigorous retrospectives, you will ensure long-term technical consistency.


• Furthermore, you will remain at the forefront of the industry by monitoring emerging technologies and trends in flight test and ground station systems, ensuring the FTGS toolchain remains cutting-edge and future-proof.

Desired Skills And Qualifications

• Education: Completed university degree (Master’s or Diploma) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science


• Professional Experience: Several years of professional experience in system architecture or the design of complex technical systems, ideally within the Aerospace or Defense sectors.


• Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of Flight Test Ground Station systems, telemetry, data processing, and data analysis.

• Travel: Willingness to undertake occasional business travel.


• Preferred: Practical experience in flight test analysis is advantageous.
