Quantum Systems in Gilching, Germany, develops small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) and eVTOL platforms. We seek a Flight Control Automation Engineer to design and validate autonomous navigation, path planning, and safety-critical software for mission aircraft, spanning hands-on execution to system-level responsibility.

You will work with MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow, contributing to robust flight operations and interfaces with avionics and payload components.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field.
• 1+ year of professional experience in aerospace engineering with hands-on experience using MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow.
• Knowledge of aircraft and flight operations.
• Interest in automation and safety-critical software development.
• Open, communicative and competent attitude with the ability to act as an internal expert.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive responsibilities forward independently.
• Fluent English in professional context.

As a Flight Control Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in our mission aircraft team and ensure seamless operation and interaction of complex aircraft functions. As part of Quantum Systems’ aircraft division, you’ll contribute to one of the most exciting German aviation projects of the years to come.

Working closely with the team around our aircraft activities, your role can span across multiple disciplines — from hands‑on technical work to system‑level responsibility.

Our focus is on getting large airborne platforms into the air and ready for real operational use.

What is your Day-to-Day Mission

• Design, implement, and validate functions for automatic waypoint navigation and path planning
• Automate complex vehicle operations like pre-flight checks or test and maintenance procedures
• Derive operator interfaces for simplified vehicle operations
• Interact with various external avionics and payload components
• Develop software for safety-critical applications according to processes from requirements to test artifacts

What you bring to the team

• You have a Master’s degree in the field of aerospace engineering (or similar course of studies).
• You already have at least 1 year of professional experience in aerospace engineering with hands-on experience using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow. Further programming languages are beneficial.
• You are knowledgeable about aircraft and flight operations.
• You are interested in automation and safety-critical software development.
• Your open, communicative, very friendly and competent manner makes it easy for you to be seen as an internal expert.
• You are highly self-motivated and drive your area of responsibility forward independently.
• Communication in English is a matter of course for you.
