• Design and execute quantitative surveys with urban anglers
• Set up and manage online angler communities to study seasonal patterns in effort and catch in Berlin waters
• Conduct statistical data analysis and data visualization
• Write publications and develop presentations and other content for scientific and lay audiences
• Write project reports in German
• Handle project administration and coordination
• Conduct a large randomized survey of angling license holders in Berlin in cooperation with the Berlin fisheries agency
• Contribute to research in the IFishMan group led by Prof. Dr. Robert Arlinghaus
• Generate data potentially suitable for a doctoral dissertation

Requirements

• Mandatory M.Sc. in fisheries, natural resources, psychology, sociology, leisure and tourism studies, human geography or a related field
• Advanced statistical competencies, preferably in R, documented in scientific publications or a master thesis
• Advanced German/English skills (C1 or higher)
• German required for verbal communication with German-speaking stakeholders, questionnaire construction, and reporting to funders
• Highly desirable: knowledge of social science theories related to outdoor recreation, conservation social science, or natural resources
• Highly desirable: experience designing structured questionnaires or behavioural experiments with humans, or published analysis of quantitative social science data
• Highly desirable: knowledge of recreational fishing
