FinOps Weekly is seeking a FinOps Engineer to align cloud design with cost governance across AWS workloads. This hybrid role partners with Engineering, Finance, and Leadership to own cost optimization, tagging automation, and spend control.

You will build real-time dashboards, drive rightsizing, and respond to spend anomalies while ensuring a scalable, efficient cloud environment.

Qualifikationen

• Review service designs during planning stages to support cost-efficient architecture choices, including serverless, containers, storage tiering, and spot instances.
• Identify and remove orphaned cloud resources.
• Follow and contribute to central FinOps policies, standards, and governance guidelines.
• Implement automated tagging and labeling standards to support full cost allocation across local microservices.
• Track cloud unit economics, including cost per 1,000 monthly active users ($/kMAU).
• Build and maintain dashboards that show engineers the cost impact of their code in real time.
• Monitor daily spend against defined variance thresholds.
• Investigate cost spikes, perform root-cause analysis, and apply immediate technical fixes.

About the Role

This FinOps Engineer role sits within local Engineering and DevOps teams and focuses on aligning cloud design, engineering decisions, and infrastructure cost. The goal is to help maintain a cloud environment that is efficient, scalable, and tightly controlled from a spend perspective. You will work across Engineering, Finance, and Leadership as the main point of contact for local cloud cost management. The role combines hands-on technical work with operational FinOps ownership, including optimization, governance, and rapid response to spend anomalies. This is a hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze cloud resource usage with Engineering and implement rightsizing, auto-scaling policies, and instance migrations.
