Airbus Defence and Space GmbH is seeking a Eurodrone Overall RPAS Design Chief Engineer to lead the integration of RPAS architectures across the program lifecycle. You will steer design activities, coordinate flight chain components, ensure airworthiness and safety, and drive certification strategies in close collaboration with customers and regulators.

Location: Manching, Germany, about an hour north of Munich.

Qualifikationen

• Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant engineering experience > 8 years in related area.
• Excellent leadership skills and ability to lead teams.
• Deep knowledge of flight dynamics, flight mechanics and flight control laws.
• Extensive experience in development of flight control systems.
• Experience in development of DAL-A software.
• Knowledge in overall aircraft design and system design.
• Operational knowledge of UAS or aircraft operation, especially automatic take-off and landing.
• Proven track record in project and technical management.
• Strong coordination, communication skills and teamwork.
• Fluent English (Negotiation level).

Aufgaben

• Optimize design for the overall RPAS and ensure integration of all level 1 sub-products.
• Perform trades & candidate aircraft configurations for RPAS and flight chain architectures & requirements.
• Coordinate the flight chain design (GSCCS, FMCS, FMAIS, SFLS) for consistent safety-critical design.
• Ensure RPAS compliance with airworthiness, safety, environmental conditions, and design maturity.
• Control the RPAS technical baseline and design changes, assess CRs impact on architecture.
• Lead the certification and qualification roadmap aligned with customers and regulators.
• Integrate and coordinate Flight Physics activities and drive solutions into overall configuration.
• Achieve handling quality for RPAS failure-free operation and failure cases.
• Secure project schedule to meet milestones and align directives across teams.
• Ensure verification plans from analysis to flight test support final certification.

In order to support our Overall Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Design Team, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Eurodrone Overall RPAS Design Chief Engineer (d/f/m) Are you passionate about shaping the future of Airbus Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) products? Join our Overall Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Design Team for Eurodrone and contribute your skills and enthusiasm to our dynamic Chief Engineering Organization. As such, execute overall design and steering activities to ensure a consistent RPAS design and integration across all functions and through the entire lifecycle, compliant with top level system requirements. Steer the flight chain (Ground Safety Critical Control Station, Flight Management System, Safe Flight and Landing System) as an integral part of the overall RPAS design and ensure the compliance with all overall RPAS design activities.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Optimize design for the overall RPAS and ensure integration of all level 1 sub-products.
• Perform trades & candidate aircraft configurations associated to RPA and flight chain architectures & requirements.
• Coordinate the flight chain design (GSCCS, FMCS, FMAIS, SFLS), ensuring consistent safety-critical design.
• Ensure RPA compliance with airworthiness and safety, environmental conditions, design maturity, security and RPAS airport operations at the aircraft level.
• Control the RPA and flight chain technical baseline and design changes, Assessing the consequences of technical Change Requests on overall RPAS architecture and aircraft configuration, ensuring configuration maturity aligns with programme milestones and safety objectives.
• Lead the definition of the certification and qualification roadmap for in close alignment with customer and regulatory bodies.
• Integrate and coordinate Flight Physics activities (performance, HQ, loads) and drive flight chain consistent solutions into the overall configuration.
• Achieving the handling quality requirements for the RPAS failure free and for failure cases.
• Secure the project schedule to achieve the program milestones, align technical directives to all design teams, ensuring end to end readiness.
• Ensure integration and verification plans and activities to achieve final certification and qualification; from analysis and simulation through systems testing and completed at Flight Test Level.
